Gasp!
China is starting to act like a superpower! Like an economic titan! Like a world leader!
For the past ten years at least, United States politicians and businesses have had their noses so far up China’s ass it was pathetic, and NOW we’re shocked that China is starting to believe the hype?
First, let me be clear; I don’t believe the myth of China rising. With a central government controlling all the statistics, this place is the Federal Reserve on steroids. The central government can play around with the economy at will, and will only show the world what it wants to present, which is the best face. Always. China has so much disparity of wealth and ethnic/social unrest, it’s a powder keg that will eventually erupt.
But, with western leaders – especially the United States – sucking China’s ass for so long (what was that quote about the Capitalist selling the rope to hang himself...). China is starting to believe the hype too.
First, GW Bush backed down when China stole one of our military planes and crew, held them, and sent the plane back in a box a year later. Since then, the United States has been pushing the myth of the "China miracle" so much, even the man on the street is parroting this line of bullshit. That’s when you know the bubble is about to pop.
The latest debacle is Google being bitch-slapped by China with not a word from our leaders in protest. And you think Steve Jobs’ comment this week that "Don’t be Evil" is "bullshit" is a just a fluke? Jobs makes all his shiny crap in China, so he’s eager to take its side against Google. I’m no fan of the 3-foot tall sociopaths that created Google, but Job’s ass-kissing is sickening.
The problem is this: one of these days, China is going to do more than spy on and hack our companies, steal our technology secrets, and conduct a trade and a currency war against the United States. One of these days, it’s going to be more serious.
Then the United States will regret creating this monster.
