"Shoulder to shoulder"
As NPR puts it, a photo-op the president would rather not see.
Blanche Lincoln and Jim Webb standing shoulder to shoulder with Lindsay Graham. Standing shoulder to shoulder in opposition to our President, again
If I'm making sense, please follow me below,
Not surprising it's coming from Blanche Lincoln.
The audio is available now on, NPR. It's 4.5 minutes.
Hearing her speak out, yet again, against President Obama, and his administration, made my stomach turn.
As reported from Reuters:
Tuesday February 2, 2010, A bipartisan group of nine U.S. senators offered legislation to force special military trials for the accused September 11, 2001, conspirators, further complicating President Barack Obama's bid to try them in a civilian court.
Graham's seven co-sponsors: Jim Webb D-VA, Blanche Lincoln D-AR, Joe Lieberman I-CT John McCain R-AZ, Saxby Chambliss R-GA, Orrin Hatch R-UT and John Barrasso R-WY.
Here is a PDF of the bill submitted by Graham, today.
Well, there you have it, bipartisanship at work.
The Obama administration has been caught off guard by mounting bipartisan opposition to trying the self-professed mastermind of the September 11 attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and four others in a federal criminal court in lower Manhattan.
Once again, it's a Democrat making trouble for the President.
"It's really cost, I think it's also security and I think it's appropriateness, it's exactly what I hear from my constituency," Lincoln said. "These are criminals, they're war criminals and they need to be tried in the military courts."
We all know how Lincoln is concerned with cost, after all that public option would have cost us a fortune...oh wait....my bad.
And, suddenly, she's listening to her constituents...really?
From Politico:
"I believe these individuals are war criminals and that their alleged evils against our country warrant their trials in military courts," said Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), who is facing a tough reelection battle this year. "Trying these conspirators in civilian court is giving them a public stage to advocate their cause," she said, arguing that the trials have the "potential to compromise classified intelligence and put our national security at great risk, not to mention the American people at greater risk."
Fear works well for Republicans, should work well for you, too, Blanche.
Ironically....
What has put the American people at greater risk, is Blanche Lincoln's opposition to a public option.
Her actions during the HCR debate, were unconscionable.
And, where was some of that "listening" to your constituents during the HCR debate?
Arkansas supported the public option according to this.
But, I digress.
One question for these four senators:
Blanche Lincoln
Ben Nelson
Mary Landreau
Evan Bayh
Why are you a Democrat?
On a personal note, I am growing increasingly impatient and agitated at Lincoln and Nelson, especially.
Looks like they both might be out the door pretty soon, so I wait with reserved excitement.
