News Corp's (NWSA.O) results beat expectations thanks to "Avatar" and improved advertising sales, and the company raised its outlook and dividend in a sign of confidence for the battered media sector.
A testament to the far reaching empire of Rupert Murdoch, if you spent $10 or more to see Avatar, a good part of that money went straight to Rupert Murdoch and was used to support Fox News.
The interconnectedness of his Media empire, which includes 20th Cent Fox movies, a stake in Hulu, airing popular shows like DollHouse, 24, American Idol, Bones House and Glee and all the ad revenue that comes with them (which I believe is based on number of viewers), escapes most people and all that income is available to benefit Fox News, O'Reily and Glenn Beck.
You figure in the print revenues like Wall Street Journal sales and Harper Collins and the amount of money is quite big.
I would ask everyone to consider the choices they make when they choose what to watch and spend their money on.
