Most of us have seen Rachel's phenomenal obliteration of Republicans for their near-psychopathic hypocrisy. This diary is about action. It's time to hold them accountable.
I've never asked for a Rec before. Today, I am. This is important. Rec it up!
TRMS:
Republicans proposed a deficit commission. President Obama endorsed the idea, so then Republicans decided they were against it.
Republicans proposed pay as you go rules. President Obama endorsed the idea, so then Republicans decided they were against it, too.
Republicans voted for the bank bailout. They are now criticizing the President for that same bank bailout.
Republicans supported president Bush's policy of trying terrorism suspects in US courts. Now that President Obama is implementing that same policy, they decided they're against that, now, too.
Republicans supported a cap and trade policy, against global warming. Now that President Obama is trying to pass that same policy, Republicans have decided - say it with me now - they're against that too.
Seeing a pattern here?
FYI: This diary an updated re-post. The original post was poorly timed on Friday night, right before the Olympic opening ceremony. Several changes and additions have been made, thanks to smart Kossacks commenting.
Rachel continued:
What the Republicans are doing on policy is not longer interesting. It is so thoroughly, unrelentingly, consistently predictable, that anyone who thinks it's an open question what Republicans are going to do about the next legislation that's proposed just is not paying attention.
Rachel goes on to list TWENTY THREE Republicans who "trashed the stimulus, voted no, then praised its effect in their home district...."
First, lets make sure Google knows who they are, ok? Click these links, and it'll open pages that clearly and completely expose the hypocrisy of these phony patriots. Yes, one of them links to Rachel Maddow's fantastic report, but they all link to the resources on her site; Rachel.MSNBC.com.
Now, given that we already know Republican voters don't care if their reps are hypocritical liars, I don't think exposing them will have any effect.
So, it's time to use their own ignorant hatred against them. I want the world to know how much these Republicans, deep down, really and truly love Barack Obama - and his policies. Cause, well, since they're praising his stimulus package at home, they do love Obama.
I couldn't think of anything these hypocrites would hate more than having their names associated with supporting Obama. So, click!
GA: Jack Kingston supports Barack Obama.
VA: Eric Cantor supports Obama and the Democratic agenda.
GA: Phil Gingrey praised President Obama's stimulus package.
LA: Bobby Jindal supports Obama and the Democratic agenda.
FL: John Mica supported Obama and the Democratic agenda.
VA: Frank Wolf praised President Obama's Stimulus Package.
PA: Bill Shuster supported Obama and the Democratic agenda.
TX: Kay Bailey Hutchison is a complete hypocrite.
NC: Richard Burr supports Obama and the Democratic agenda.
MS: Kit Bond supports Obama and the Democratic agenda.
SC: Joe Wilson praised President Obama's Stimulus Package.
UT: Bob Bennett supports Barack Obama.
OH: Pat Tiberi supports Obama and the Democratic agenda.
CA: Mary Bono Mack supported Obama and Bono Mack praised Obama's bailout.
NE: Mike Johanns praised President Obama's Stimulus Package.
TN: Lamar Alexander agrees with President Obama.
GA: John Linder praised President Obama's Stimulus Package.
DE: Mike Castle supports Obama and the Democratic agenda.
OH: John Boehner supported Obama and the Democratic agenda.
OK: Jim Inhofe agrees with President Obama and praised the stimulus.
GA: Jack Kingston supports Obama and the Democratic agenda.
TX: John Carter agrees with President Obama and praised the stimulus.
PA: Glenn Thompson supports Obama and the Democratic agenda.
This is not a "Google bomb" like the old "miserable failure" Google search that found George Bush at the top of the search results, but, Google will find it faster if we all click it. Plus, the articles are great! I swear.
Now, lets make them pay.
I researched their opponents in the upcoming 2010 elections and set up an ActBlue page just for Kossacks to donate to this group of opposition candidates. You can choose just one candidate to donate to, or, donate a sum to be distributed evenly between the candidates.
Sadly, only three of two hypocrites are up for re-election in 2010.
HYPOCRITE #1: CA-45 Mary Bono Mack (R)
Challenger: Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet, a Democrat and an openly gay man.
"Rep. Mary Bono Mack (R-CA), who denounced the stimulus bill as wasteful, soon announced that it provided a $4.2 million grant for her district to prevent families from becoming homeless.‘This funding will provide much-needed assistance,’ she said." (WSJ, 3/21/09)
Mary Mack (Mack! Mack! Mack!) is a birther, and Rep. Mary Bono Mack has connections to Orly Taitz.
..................................
HYPOCRITE #2: R-ID Senator Mike Crapo (R)
Idaho? Idaho's senate race is a mess. There is...well, essentially no challenger for Mike Crapo's Senate Seat. My GOD! The man's name is CRAP-o!
Of course...Hypocrite Crapo voted no on the stimulus then took credit for "securing funding" for his state.
"Democratic" Opponent: William Bryk.
William Bryk hasn’t raised a nickel for the May 2010 primary and he has never been to Idaho. Never.
Bryk says he was prompted to run because Crapo faced only a write-in challenger in 2004. Bryk says he didn’t want to let that happen again in 2010.
Election law requires Idaho candidates to be residents of the state only by the day of the general election. Bryk says he’ll move to Idaho if he wins the Democratic nomination.
State Democratic Party Director Jim Hansensays he’s confident his party will field a serious candidate who’s actually from Idaho.
Yes, I know it's a long shot. But, so was Howard Dean's 50 State Strategy, and god knows we're all yearning for that now! So, I say it's time to light a fire under the Idaho Democratic Party: email them. Call them: 208-336-1815. Ask what we can do to help recruit a great candidate. Ask them to blog on Kos! Send them a link to this diary (and say something nice about Idaho in the comments, ok?) We want that seat!!!
R. Keith Roark, Chair.
Jeanne Buell, Vice Chair.
Susan Eastlake, Treasurer.
Pete Gertonson, Chair of Chairs.
Jerry Brady, National Committeeman.
Gail Bray, National Committeewoman.
Here's the email list all ready to cut and paste:

For our Kossack ActBlue page, I've added the ID-Sen Democratic Nominee Fund 2010: Contributions to this fund will be sent to the Democratic nominee upon his or her selection.
Ok, now, there are twelve senate seats we need to fight for.
I've added all twelve potentially Democratic seats to the "Kossacks for ousting Hypocrites" ActBlue page, so we have a central place to tally all Kossack donations. Hopefully, we'll be able to use that total to flex our progressive muscles in the future.
The Republicans might misunderestimate us, but we have a strategery.
I think we should focus on the seats we have the best chance of winning. There are four seats (in gray) currently held by Republicans that Cook Political has deemed winnable by the Dems.
REPUBLICAN SENATE SEATS
Bunning R-KY
Bunning is retiring. The Tea Party AND Sarah Palin officially endorsed Kentucky Senate candidate Republican Rand Paul. Enough said?
Democratic candidate Jack Conway, is the current KY Attorney General.
He also looks like Captain America.
Jack Conway has been added to the "Kossacks for ousting Hypocrites" ActBlue page.
..................................
Bond R-MO
Kit Bond is retiring, but he won't be soon forgotten.
Republican Kit Bond is the moran who accused the White House of releasing "sensitve classified information" to the media to "justify mirandizing" the Christmas Day bomber. He was summarily flattened by Robert Gibbs, but of course, refused to stop spreading the lies or apologize.
In July 2009, Rep. Roy Blunt (R-MO), who is hoping to succeed Bond after he retires, suggested to a conservative Missouri radio host that the "government should have never" started Medicare or Medicaid.
This race is going to be a major showdown in Missouri.
MO Secretary of State Robin Carnahan is the Democratic candidate. She supports the public option and has some serious Democratic credentials, but I'm equally impressed by the fact that she's a pilot and manages a 900-acre cattle farm.
Robin Carnahan has been added to the "Kossacks for ousting Hypocrites" ActBlue page.
..................................
Gregg R-NH
Judd Gregg is retiring.
Republican Kelly Ayotte is currently leading the race. She's shockingly hard to pin down on many issues, and even her website substitutes her happy little life story as a lawyer for any actual stances on issues. But look, isn't she cute?
Congressman Paul Hodes' is the Democrat in this race. While I've read his stance on issues and I'm impressed.... I must admit Hodes first came to my attention for one reason alone; I just love Lewis Black.
Enough said?
Nope, not quite enough said. I checked out this video from summer 2008, and something else struck me. It wasn't Lewis Black he reminded me of.
It was actually....Robert Klein.
Make your own love-child jokes in the comments.
Paul Hodes has been added to the "Kossacks for ousting Hypocrites" ActBlue page.
..................................
Voinovich R-OH
Voinovich is retiring.
There are four Democrats competing in the primary. Yes, four.
Jennifer Brunner,
Tyrone Yates,
Lee Fisher, and
Peter Lawson Jones.
Whew!
So, I've added OH-Sen Democratic Nominee Fund has been added to the "Kossacks for ousting Hypocrites" ActBlue page. Contributions to this fund will be sent to the Democratic nominee upon his or her selection.
Just for the record, Jennifer Brunner a fine progressive choice.
Nobody put it better than Casual Wednesday:
Jennifer Brunner supports:
Health Care Reform
Global Warming Legislation
Protecting US workers from outsourcing
Second Amendment Rights while recognizing some people (read: felons) should not have guns
Marriage Equality
Reproductive Rights
Plus, she's a Kossack

There are eight seats (in gray) currently held by Dems that are near the brink:
DEMOCRATIC SENATE SEATS
Bennet D-CO
Incumbent Senator Michael Bennet of Colorado is in the fight of his career. Several respected polls show this race as a toss-up; and other polls show him losing by 9 points to tea-bagger Jane Norton.
Republican Jane Norton has been on a mission to attract teabagger support, and at a recent coffeeshop event, Jane Norton sat silently nearby while a female attendee declared twice that President Barack Obama is a Muslim and while a male attendee insisted that the president -- who he deemed "an idiot" -- wanted to let babies die on the side of the road "with the garbage."
"Well as you can tell there is a lot of passion around what is happening in our own country," Norton responded. [Video]
But Norton isn't even loyal to teabaggery; she's a lobbyist shill.
Lobbyist shill + teabagger! Double whammy, eh? Or just more proof the teabaggers will believe anything? OK ok, both.
Michael Bennet has been added to the "Kossacks for ousting Hypocrites" ActBlue page.
Bennet also has a formidable primary challenger, Andrew Romanoff, who has picked up the backing of the Teamsters and the United Food and Commercial Workers.

Dodd D-CT
Chris Dodd is retiring.
The primary has two democratic candidates are Air Force Veteran and progressive activist Merrick Alpert and popular Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, whose website is basically non-existant. (He threw his hat in the ring in early January, so that's troubling.)
Kossack GrannyHelen liked Blumenthal's take on ousting Bernake, and Kossack pistolSOhas a nice roundup of both candidates.
CT-Sen Democratic Nominee Fund 2012 has been added to the "Kossacks for ousting Hypocrites" ActBlue page.

The rest of the races?
Watch for the info about the remaining six senate races soon. Please, if you see errors or have additional information to add, please mention it in the comments and I'll update.
