An odd sport. I'm an Ice Hockey fan. Curling has caught my fancy. Four years ago it was a drinking game, this year it's a sport. If anyone watched the U.S.A. Men's match earlier today VS. Switzerland, you know what I'm talking about. Down 4 to nothing, the Americans stormed back to take a 6 - 4 lead, only to lose 7 - 6 in the 11th end.
I should do my best to explain Curling as best as I know it. The following is not meant to be an explanation of Olympic rules, just my take on the sport.
Two teams, a sheet of ice, big rocks, throwing them at each other, last one closest to the target wins. Sound familiar?
I totally suck at politics, and I know that the Olympics is the one thing in World history that is meant to put aside politics. I just can't help noticing how the sport of Curling so mirrors our modern politics.
Two teams, on a sheet of ice (like glass), throwing rocks, at the "house" (the circles that look like a target), until the last team to throw, get to put down the hammer (the last stone thrown) to score points.
I know I didn't explain Curling, or American politics, coherently.
Can anyone?
