I know you read Daily Kos since you refer to comments from the site in your recent AP article entitled, "Analysis: Untruths have consequences in politics".
It is almost comical how you try to present the argument that both the left and the right are being ridiculous in their hyperbole by comparing statements from major figures in the Republican Party with statements from anonymous bloggers on Daily Kos.
While Romney and fellow Republicans were filling the air with red-meat distortions, liberal Democratic activists were torturing facts online as they wrote commentary about the conservative gathering.
Really? This is the best you can come up with for trying to show that both sides are at fault? You are now comparing statements from major leaders from the Republican Party with "Democratic activists" and bloggers?
In these hyper-partisan times, it's rarely good enough to respond to an unfair attack with a factual argument. Fire is fought with more high heat. And so it was this week, when liberal bloggers reacted to the CPAC distortions with false attacks of their own. On the Daily Kos Web site, one blogger noted the standing ovation given to "the self-confessed war criminal Dick Cheney."
I do appreciate that your article calls out some of the inaccuracies and lies spewing from the CPAC conference, however, why can't the article just focus on this? Why do you need to try to make it a condemnation of both parties?
Comparing statements directly from GOP leaders with bloggers just isn't being fair and honest as a reporter. Funny, I don't see any over the top hyperbole from the conservative blogs, why is that? Could it be because there is little difference between the nonsense and lies from the conservative blogs and what is coming out of the mouths of Republicans leaders and Congress people? Where are the lies and distortions from actual Democratic leaders and Congress people? That's right, the best you could do was
President Barack Obama embellishes the number of jobs created by last year's stimulus bill
This is the worst you can do? I also note that you provide nothing to back up this claim of embellishment. Why is that?
It is extremely sad to me that the AP which unfortunately provides the content for many of our smaller cities and community newspapers has fallen so far to publish trash like this article as news.
