In the first district of Virginia, established political forces have been dealing with the tea baggers since the inception of their movement. One frail elderly woman stalked out of a meeting with our representative, Rob "Gormless Drip" Whitman (R-VA, 1st district), sputtering about Revealations 3:16.
This was entirely cryptic to most members of the audience, but a sympathetic reporter translated the verse as "you are neither hot nor cold"...
the Teabagger's objection to Whitman isn't his extremely conservative voting record, but his failure to be an overt and aggressive rightwing asshole. A few days later, state delegate Albert Pollard won the district (by one vote in Northumberland County), mostly by dent of being a known quantity, a good boy, and someone who is "for the bay" in about that order. Acting like the heir to the realm, regardless of where you came from, appears to be the key to winning elections in VA.
