As you all know, there is an open Senate seat in Missouri in 2010 with Republican Kit Bond retiring.
The race will be between Robin Carnahan, Missouri Secretary of State, member of the Carnahan family, versus Congressman Roy Blunt.
Here's how the money chase is going:
Roy Blunt
— Fourth quarter 2009: $1.2 million, including $308,000 from PACS
— Cash on hand: $2.9 million
Robin Carnahan
— Fourth quarter 2009: $877,000, including $96,000 from PACS
— Cash on hand: $2.1 million
A little about Blunt, he has been leading the GOP's charge against "Government Run Healthcare". He is outpacing Carnahan 3 to 1 in PAC money, notably from the healthcare and financial services industries.
Oh, and he received $2,500 from Sarah Palin, and a big endorsement from the Empress of Wingnuttery herself.
Polls:
Going in the wrong direction.
Carnahan led in PPP and a variety of local academic polls throughout the fall. Rasmussen now has Blunt up by seven.

In closing, stopping one of the architects of HCR's stalemate in Congress--Roy Blunt--would go a long way in changing the paradigm of gridlock.
Having Robin Carnahan join Clare McCaskill in the Senate would be good for Missouri and the country.
