Agent Orange lawsuits by Vietnamese dismissed. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals according to AP says:
[the] lawsuit brought by the Vietnamese plaintiffs could not go forward because Agent Orange was used to protect U.S. troops against ambush and not as a weapon of war against human populations.
Anyone else see possible dangerous extensions in this logic? We could bomb every building in a country to deprive enemy of cover for ambushes. Level mountains, trees? The people just happen to be there.
Agent orange was a jungle defoliant, intended to get rid of the jungle. I guess you can always prevent against ambushes if you level everything in sight.
What kind of countries approve of such logic? William Tecumseh Sherman finally vindicated in 2010.
