So here's my logic.
The WH needs to appear bipartisan since the country in some ways wants that. Yes, I know that's in an ideal world but will probably never happen - still, the prez is implicitly the referee between the parties. Anything less gives the Repubs cover to not participate.
Stick with me here.
Given: Congressional approval ratings are in the, um, dump.
Given: The American people are significantly in favor of a PO.
Given: Dems own the Congress and WH. The public knows that. Supreme Court? Topic for another day.
Since we know that the WH is willing to do what's best for the country at risk of low approval ratings - We did vote for a different kind of candidate oh so long ago didn't we..?
Doesn't it make sense that Obama has set up the necessary conditions for the Senate Dems to come through with a PO/Medicare-for-All in reconciliation so that Congress will own the PO and reap the benefits of boldly acting upon what the American people want?
Like I said, stick with me. I'll accept that this may be just fantasy and has no bearing on reality of the corporate-owned United States political machine.
Yeah,I'm not saying this is what they've planned. I'm just saying if it IS what they've planned, well, that would be an 11th dimensional chess move. And it will completely pivot the national mood re: Dems, Gov't, who's looking out for the people. November 2010 will definitely be a good thing.
So for tonight, before the superbowl of HCR, I'm going to revel in the postulate that this is really what's going on. I'm hoping our team wins in a big way.
In the meantime, please heed the diaries of nyceve (i'm too much of a novice to link her diaries) and get involved in the 1,000,000 calls to congress today. Thursday is good too. Friday is too late.
p.s. They've already passed 1,000,000 so it's definitely time to get on board if you haven't already.
