A couple of slick new websites have popped up pretending to be Democratic Party member sites, put together by supposed "Democrats of the Democratic Party" claiming to seek "reform within the Democratic Party." The main site is "Democratic Party: American Patriots"; the attached pseudo-blog is titled "Democratic Party News".
The deception is deep and severe - using the Democratic donkey under a big Democratic banner, and even throwing up the word "Democratic," both in the URL and throughout the site/blog enough times to likely creep to the top of search engine returns.
And what do these "Democrats of the Democratic Party" want? Free healthcare for all? Publicly funded campaigns? Heavens no, these "Democrats" seem more concerned with blocking healthcare to anyone, breaking down the barriers between church and state, and defending "state sovereignty" against that nasty federal government. One "Democratic" candidate that they are backing has "noted his strong opposition to abortions and feels that global warming is a farce."
In other words, these folks sound a lot like... Republicans. I suppose anyone who wants to can call themselves a Democrat, but when an obviously astroturfed blog calling itself "Democratic Party News" is a Republican talking points fantasy (including no fewer than three "blog posts" attacking Michelle Obama of all people, they cross the line into sheer deception.
A "whois" search draws a blank, but that's really not necessary: the site is apparently the brainchild (if "brain" can be used within 1,000 yards of such a thing) of wingnut Eric Pearson, who has recently begun a campaign of spamming it across dozens of blog comment sections.
So lets do whatever it takes to call them out, in case they are able to fool anyone stupid enough to be fooled by this sort of thing. Oh, wait, those people are already in their farcical tent.
