Teabagger paranoia is approaching critical mass in Indiana, where members of the Tenther strain of teabaggery are declaring their homes sovereign nations, creating their own "national" identification documents, and declaring themselves immune from U.S. federal law. [h/t ThinkProgress]
Fed up and fired up, an increasing number of Indiana residents who have lost confidence in the government are going to extreme measures to claim they are "sovereign citizens."
By doing so, residents contend that they no longer have to pay taxes, claiming their homes as embassies and using identification cards that show them as diplomats, 6News' Rafael Sanchez reported.
Indiana authorities call such proclamations both illegitimate and illegal. About 10 people every month ask the state to put a seal on a document so that they can claim freedom from taxes.
This would be adorable if it wasn't so insane and sad.
It's as though they watched this Mr. Show sketch and thought it was a documentary.
If these sovereign citizens aren't Americans anymore, does that mean if we catch them in "our" country, we can deport them as illegals? I sure as heck don't want them taking "our" jobs and driving on the roads that "our" tax dollars paid to pave.
