Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), has introduced legislation to replace Ulysses S. Grant with Ronald Reagan on the $50 bill. Apparently because Reagan needs to be commemorated or something. I believe the back of the new $50 would feature a cartoon detailing a botched exchange of weapons for hostages, and a graph of the ballooning national debt.
Skipping over the many fine accomplishments of President Ulysses S. Grant, many of which are detailed in the TV Show "Wild Wild West" (the movie, however, took great liberties with the President), and the importance of keeping the general who defeated the historical southern secessionists on the $50 to taunt the current southern secessionists, this does bring up the question of why Ronald Reagan should appear on any form of currency.
Now, I like Reagan as much as the next guy, what with the chimpanzee movies and the visiting SS graveyards and all that, but he's really not the man to appear on currency. He should appear on debt.
Granted, I have no idea what the actual Treasury Notes look like (Google searches pull up old currency, and graphs of the interest rates paid on T-Notes), but whatever it looks like, wouldn't it look nicer with Ronald Reagan's smiling face?
Unless it already has something awesome like Smurfs fighting a T-Rex.
