On the day of the Oscars I woke up this morning to find out that the solution between Cablevision and ABC on the day of the Oscar was to remove ABC as one of my cable stations.
I don't know the details of this confrontation and I really don't care who is right or wrong I just know that once again corporate America has turned me into a pawn.
At this point I've been on hold for over an hour. It started with a recording that claimed an "approximate wait time of fourteen minutes" but at some point when my "fourteen minute" wait ends I will be telephone, internet and television free.
I hope to see you again sometime soon.
Update: First I found out that if I turned off my phone I would not be able to keep the same number with a new company. Then I found out that I had to keep internet and without the "Triple Play Discount" telephone and internet would be about ninety bucks a month. So I said "The hell with it I'll get a new number, turn it off." Then after a long wait, they lowered my bill from $210 a month for the three services to $181 per month for the next twelve months. Holy shit, I was paying $210 a month! But I never walk away from a bargain.
I gotta say there was no place I would have rather been on this perfect New York day that having a phone in my ear for two full hours.
Update 2: With my giant discount ($181 a month!) I'm on my way down to Radioshack to see if I can get either a cable to the building master antenna that is so 1960's or something like digital rabbit ears. Perhaps there is a chance to see the Oscars.
