Good good evening! Don't forget to spread the word about the new diary logo "contest." I want people to be able to vote on lots of ideas, and I've been seeing MANY potential logo ideas here in the last few days!
Here's an image to make us giggle because there's nothing wrong with a good giggle. ;D
I'm noting just one "this day in history" item, but, golly, it is a GOOD one; on this date in 1954, CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow critically reviewed Wisconsin Sen. Joseph R. McCarthy's anti-Communism campaign on See It Now.
If any of these great words sound familiar, you probably heard them here - Keith's very first "special comment"; this one is still my absolute favorite because the gauntlet was truly tossed down here!
Let's Countdown.
Thank you so much again to Lawrence O’Donnell for filling in for Keith so he could be with his Dad – continued good thoughts to all of the Olbermann family!
#5 "Massa in Glennbeckistan" AKA "Massa of His Domain" - Golly! Lawrence was in L.A. last night & in New York City tonight. Can you imagine HIS frequent flyer miles? And, bless him for trying to get Eric Massa on the show tonight; if I were him, I wouldn’t be able to decide if I was insulted or not being passed over in favor of Lonesome Rhodes. I mean, DAMN, that Massa crazy may be contagious, ya’ know!
Yesterday, Boss Limbaugh claimed that it was important to listen to Rep. Massa. Today? Apparently not so much... The House Ethics Committee (talk about your oxymoron!) has been investigating Eerie Eric for some time now about groping male staffers? Well...OK... Now, he claims no one forced him out. The dude used to live in his office?! Hell, you think he could’ve found another Congress critter to shack up with; he would’ve only had to pay $600/month at C Street! ;D Lonesome Rhodes was expecting, apparently, to catch Mr. Massa in some weepy mea culpa thing where Lonesome could swoop in & look like he had the moral high ground or something. Lonesome Rhodes doesn’t want people to vote or get involved in the political process? Well, that sounds a little UnAmerican to me! And poor Lonesome Rhodes was literally begging for some additional dirt about Rahm Emanuel & ended up "apologizing" to his viewers for not providing the red meat he’s accustomed to dishing out.
Lordy, Lonesome’s such a goober butt! Good evening to Howard Fineman. Can y’all just imagine him in a "group tickle"? Do we WANT to imagine him in a "group tickle"?! I mean, I like Howard & all but... EEEeeeeKKKKkkkk. ;D Small Price to Pay Goldilocks even implored reporters to watch Lonesome Rhodes today?! Well, Boss Limbaugh should be gratified that one of his toadies followed his instructions. Howard thinks the ethics investigation will end since Mr. Massa’s resigned. Really? I remember similar investigations continuing even after a Congress critter left Congress. Maybe, that was part of Eric’s "deal" to leave. Up until last week, the White House was trying to convince Rep. Massa to switch his vote on HCR. Well, after all this Navy talk, the comedy deities demand this! ;D
#4 "Rally for Reform" - Demonstrators were in DC today to protest the health insurance industry cartel & to demand HCR. How ‘bout THAT?! They headed toward the Ritz Carleton – where health insurance execs are holding their "annual meeting." Well, even though this term gives me the willies, I’m using it here; if that "annual meeting" ain’t a DEATH PANEL, I don’t know what is. There’s Howard Dean! Robert Gibbs told ABC this morning that HCR won’t cost the Dems in November. Well dear, it’ll sure as $hit cost ‘em if nothing happens! The numbers in a Lake Research Partners poll seem to bear that out, but I know diddly – poo about these guys’ creds in polling. And, Boss Limbaugh said he’d go to Costa Rica if HCR passed & is implemented in 5 years!
Huh...doesn’t Costa Rica have similar "socialized" medicine that he & his ilk are deriding and like what he "enjoyed" in Hawaii after his little "heart" scare over the holidays? If Boss Limbaugh wants health care like what our country has now, where should he go? Saudi Arabia? China? I mean, what other country has a similar ilky health care system like what our country has "enjoyed" over the last years? And, how did Boss Limbaugh feel about people who said they’d go to Canada if GWB won the White House? Was he considerate & empathetic to their feelings? Don’t bother answering; I know he wasn’t. ;D Here’s our Great Orange Satanic leader! He called the current possible HCR bill an "important first step." While I tend to agree basically, I don’t trust Congress in any incarnation to do what needs to be done to improve it. So, I think what eventually passes – IF something actually passes & gets signed into law – will be "the law of the land" for some time to come. Hey! Lawrence read my mind about Alec Baldwin & others going to Canada! OK, this line of questioning is downright scary; get outta my head, Lawrence O’Donnell! ;D
Markos suggested Somalia for Boss Limbaugh. Markos also compared Rep. Kucinich’s response to HCR (based on his appearance on the show last night) to Ralph Nader! Uh – oh, some aren’t going to be pleased with that. DAMN! Markos used the word "reprehensible!" $HIT! Man, Markos’ Saturday hate mail could be a hoot; he might hear from as many "progressives" as GOPers. Lawrence asked a damn interesting question about someone primarying Dennis Kucinich. I don’t think Dennis will have to necessarily have to worry about being primaried; he’ll just lose in November. Markos, apparently though, is ready to bolster a primary effort against Rep. Kucinich if he votes "no" on HCR – especially, I imagine, if HCR dies! Holy $hit!
#3 "Courage and Consequence" AKA "Rewriting History" - TurdBlossom is still in campaign mode for GWB; his book is coming out soon. The excerpts on the show tonight will be the most I read of it:
Many of the nation’s most accomplished Presidents – Lincoln, FDR, Reagan – were polarizing figures during their times in office.
TurdBlossom, they might have been "polarizing figures," but none of them approved war crimes in defense of our country & turned our nation into AQ’s wet dream as far as fear – mongering & destroying ourselves & our economy.
The only shameful thing that truly comes to mind even remotely close is FDR’s executive order for the Japanese internment camps. He claims he had nothing to do with the shameful rumors about Senator McCentury back in 2000. His little tree killer is apparently full of denials. And, of course, GWB was right on Iraq. *&^%$#@!
Here’s that shameful WMD quote again. Scott McClellan’s ears must have been burning earlier today; I chatted him up in another diary today! I know I’m probably in the minority on this opinion, but I don’t consider Scotty to be some great hero for writing his book. He knew he was talking bull$hit when he did it, but he kept on doing it. Scotty wanted to sell a book, and if GWB’s popularity numbers hadn’t gone down the $hitter, Scotty would’ve kept his pie hole shut. TurdBlossom was on the Today show this morning. Gack. Let’s not forget TurdBlossom’s role in the outing of Valerie Plame!
This morning, TurdBlossom threw a dead man under the bus; now, I don’t exactly have warm & fuzzy feelings about Bob Novak, but that was low even for TurdBlossom. Scotty claims that TurdBlossom DID apologize to him for making Scotty say what he said. Heck, who are you gonna believe? Neither source is exactly trustworthy in my book. O...M...G...did Scotty realize what he just said?! He said people don’t want anything to do with DC because there’s not enough candor – this coming from one of the leading bull$hit artists of the GWB years! OK, I might have to bail on this segment before my laptop goes flying & there’s a laptop – sized hole in my television machine. Sorry, bailing on the segment now.
#2 "Guilty Plea" AKA "Case Closed" - The guy accused of attempting to extort money from David Letterman, Robert Halderman, plead guilty today. I bet Dave’s happy he doesn’t have to testify at a trial now! Mr. Halderman gets 6 months in the Gray Bar Hotel & 5 years probation & some community service. Will the community service involve screenplay writing?
#1 "Keep America Scared" AKA "Liz’s Lemon" - DICK’s spawn is continuing to win friends all over for her recent ad equating DOJ lawyers to defended Gitmo detainees to terrorist sympathizers. Senator Lindsey Graham joined the chorus today. Has Bill Kristol been on FAUX News to defend the ad? I wouldn’t be surprised to see him show up on the Mannity’s show sometime soon to do just that; this shtick would be right up the Mannity’s alley. Here’s what Senator Graham had to say:
I’ve been a military lawyer for almost 30 years, I represented people as a defense attorney in the military that were charged with some pretty horrific acts, and I gave them my all. This system of justice that we’re so proud of in America requires the unpopular to have an advocate and every time a defense lawyer fights to make the government do their job, that defense lawyer has made us all safer.
Well, those are some nice words. Have those words equated into votes on the Senate floor? What was his vote on the Patriot Act? How ‘bout his warrantless wire – tapping creds? What’s his record on Gitmo detainees having access to a civilian lawyer? Inquiring minds wanna know! David Rivkin’s signature is also on Ken Starr’s letter. Mr. Rivkin called the ad "unfortunate." Well, that’s big of him; let it all hang out, honey! DICK’s spawn is a law school graduate?! Oh good grief, if I was her client, I’d be looking for another lawyer. Mr. Rivkin wants no one to be called unpatriotic just because they might disagree with someone on a policy issue. Does Mr. Rivkin practice what he preaches? Well, ain’t that lovely; he managed to get a defense of John Yoo & Jay Baybee in at the end. Isn’t that special? *&^%$#@!
