What I don't understand about this whole health argument is why we, the American public, who pays the salaries, or at least base salaries, pensions, etc. of our elected representatives, can't have or have access to the same coverage they have.
I used to work for the federal government. It was many years ago, 1994 through 1995; however, I had comprehensive health insurance that included coverage for abortions and birth control. What I don't understand about this whole health argument is why we, the American public, who pays the salaries, or at least base salaries, pensions, etc. of our elected representatives, can't have or have access to the same coverage they have. Federal employees have their pick of comprehensive insurance coverage, and it's damned good coverage. If they can have health insurance that covers abortion and birth control, as well as erectile dysfunction medications, why can't we?
Tax dollars are tax dollars! If I'm incorrect in my assumptions, please enlighten me. I want the same coverage members of Congress and federal employees have. Is this possible? And if so, why aren't we arguing this point?
I canvassed for universal healthcare for all Americans! I want my universal healthcare. I gave money, sweat, and tears trying to get Obama and Democrats elected to pass universal healthcare. Why can't these dumb ass "grassroots" teabaggers and other noise makers understand they are sheep who are controlled by the selfish wealthy.
The Republicans, AHIP, Freedomworks, and all these other so-called grassroots movements feed and and spread fear and hate. This causes the people who need the benefits the most to fight amongst themselves. While the masses are fighting, the insurance company executives enjoy the spoils. The Republicans are using the same strategy Willie Lynch proposed to divide slaves and overseers. The slaves were divided on skin color. The overseers, or working class white people, were given jobs over the slaves and made out only slightly better. It could be argued they were actually worse off because poor whites were and still are treated almost as bad as blacks and minorities. The reality was that the land owners controlled everything. The same thing happened with the Labor Movement in the South when landowners kept black and white sharecroppers and farmers divided. They goal has always been to divide and conquer to keep the wealth in the hands of the few. It's just downright shameful that we are still playing these types of games with people's lives.
When are we going to learn from the past so we will quit making the same mistakes?
