Aloha all. I offer you another one of these diversion diaries. In this edition we head back underneath the waves off the island of Oahu. These photos are taken from two dives at Kahe Point on Saturday and one dive off of Waikiki this morning. I hope you enjoy them.
Sunrise
Bigeye
A nocturnal fish, I found this one sleeping on the underside of a ledge. It allowed for a close approach.
Known in Hawai'i as an Aweo'weo (pronounce the w's as v's)
Yellow Spotted Guard Crab
The spots help camouflage it on its host antler coral.
Raccoon Butterflyfish
Green Sea Turtle or Honu
Profile
Desirable Nudibranch
Soldierfish in Cave
Commerson's Frogfish
This ambush hunter is relatively easy to see in this shot. The eye and mouth are at the left of the animal.
Frogfish
Here is another one, this one much more brightly colored.
Frogfish Reflection
I was shooting straight up at these fish and in this shot I managed to capture a reflection of the frogfish in an air bubble trapped on the roof of the cave. I would like to say that it was intentional but I didn't notice it until I processed the photos this afternoon.
Bloody Hermit Crab
Yellowmargin Moray
Handsome no?
Star Shrimp
These tiny shrimp live on the underside of cushion starfish. This one appears to be pregnant; you can see tiny little eyes in its belly.
A Baby Bigeye Emperor or Mu
Whitetip Reef Shark
Waikiki and the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor
Marina Morning
An HDR Photo
Thanks for visiting here this Sunday evening. I hope you enjoyed your stay. As always feel free to treat this as a community photo diary and please be good humans.
If you have a problem with this diary I refer you to the Complaint Department....
