A new poll released Friday shows that Israelis overwhelmingly have a favorable impression of President Barack Obama, despite a grave diplomatic feud with the U.S. over east Jerusalem construction. I believe the Poll was conducted by the newspaper Haaretz (left leaning), but I can be wrong.
Huffington Post reported today that a new poll conducted in Israel showed that Israelis have a favorable on President Obama despite the curent US-Israeli Crisis. In fact, according to the article, three polls released on friday, show mixed messages on Netanyahu while showing that Obama is viewed favorably by a majority of Israeli.
Haaretz Poll shows that :
U.S. President Barack Obama's popularity may be declining in American public opinion, but a sweeping majority of Israelis think his treatment of this country is friendly and fair, according to a Haaretz-Dialog poll conducted this week.
The poll also found that most Israelis don't believe politicians who call Obama anti-Semitic or hostile to Israel, or who say he is "striving to topple Netanyahu."
However, polls aren't good news for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In fact, while a poll shows that thirty-six percent of those questioned thought Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was best suited to lead Israel, versus 26 percent for his closest challenger, opposition leader Tzipi Livni. Antother, poll showed Livni's Kadima Party would overtake Netanyahu's Likud by a wider margin if elections were held today.
But, all three polls showed a majority of Israelis supported continued construction in Jerusalem's disputed eastern sector, the issue at the heart of the U.S.-Israeli row. Support ranged from 48 percent in one poll to 70 percent in another.
