I hate, and let me emphasize HATE, to mention Sarah Palin. It is sad, but she has become so much of a political cliche to mention at this point. She is the token scapegoat, conservative "hottie", and budding history all-star. But sometimes it is necessary to mention Ms. Wasilla's exploits in order to expose just how destructive her and her followers are.
Throughout her tenure as post-governor (for lack of any relevant title), Palin has continued to boast her true conservative values towards her horrifyingly large fan base. Those values being guns, God, glory, and guns. (optionally, obtaining large sums of money for spewing out words at an idiot convention).
Palin's Political Action Committee, SarahPAC? (I refuse to give google the hits in trying to find the correct name of it) has recently put out a "hit-list" of Democratic Congresspersons who she wants her fringe to target. Emphasis on the word "target" because the diagram she put out uses crosshairs to identify on a map where these people reside.
Now, I'm all for reasonable and justified dissent. Government should be run with suspicion in mind to keep everyone honest. It is only fair to question policies of the Obama Administration, and it is understandable for some people to be upset with the current healthcare legislation that recently passed the house.
However, what Sarah Palin is doing is inciting an already large uproar of people to do violent things in the name of freedom and democracy. These stupid misguided attempts at becoming a political juggernaut are going to get someone killed.
First, her lies started with death panels. This war Palin has had with healthcare reform goes against any values being preached by some of the more sane members of her party. It makes it hard for americans representing the right-wing to believe that any Republican input has been included in the bill when someone like Palin is parading through the streets toting a rifle preaching freedom and making maps with crosshairs for her loyal followers to attack on command. You wanna talk indoctrination? Look no further than this. I feel this tale is almost as old as time now (not to copy off of Disney?) although this is no fairtale. It is becoming a nightmare. Where will responsibility kick in with this woman? Ever? Is there any rationality left to this former half term governor?
I hope for the sake of those who follow her, that they wake up and realize the road she is leading them on is a very dangerous one. When will Palin step out and say that violence is not how you solve problems with democracy? Ever? This question, I'm afraid, may be answered with never.
