That would be Tom Rooney of Florida, he of the Rooney clan of Pittsburgh, owners of various things like professional football teams...greyhound racing tracks...and Irish Pubs. I believe that Uncle Dan Rooney was and is a big Barack Obama supporter and was named as ambassador to Ireland... and its too bad the younger Rooney's don't share their elder's values.
I wrote to my Congressman recently with little hope of swaying him in regard to Health Care Reform, but I went ahead anyway. A funny thing happened and apparently my letter went into the Tea Bagger bin instead of the dreaded Progressive pile... I've printed Congressman Rooney's reply I received yesterday below.
After you take a peek, come back and send some dough to Chris Craft (no relation to the boat I believe) who will hopefully take back this district (FL-16) we lost when Blue Dog Tim Mahoney couldn't keep his Mahoney in his pants (apparenty picking up a contagious sex drive from the previous 16th Congressman Mark Foley).

Dear Mr Route66:
Thank you for contacting me regarding your opposition to the Democrats government takeover of health care. It is always good to hear from you.
As you may know, on March 21, 2010, I voted against H.R. 3590, which would enact the largest government takeover of health care in our nation's history. Despite bipartisan opposition, this measure passed by a vote of 219-212, and was signed into law on March 23, 2010 (Public Law 111-148).
The reality is that in the midst of a slow economy and a state budgetary crisis, this legislation writes exactly the wrong prescription for job growth and financial solvency. This new law's unconstitutional insurance mandates and $52 billion tax increase on employers will destroy, rather than create, jobs. And seeing the path to bankruptcy unfold before them, over half the states have already introduced legislation to opt out of this bill's unprecedented and unfunded state mandates. Attorney General Bill McCollum has filed suit in federal court asserting that portions of this law violate the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and financially encumber the state with an unfunded Medicaid expansion requirement?"two pivotal reasons I voted against this legislation.
Many of the jobs to disappear in the wake of this legislation will be medical professionals themselves. The plan's $523.5 billion cut to Medicare lead President Obama's own Medicare Actuaries to report doctors "might end their participation in the [Medicare] program (possibly jeopardizing access to care for beneficiaries.)" The only jobs actually created by this bill will be over 16,000 IRS agents to enforce the mandates as well as thousands of new bureaucrats to administer the government's takeover of health care.
The effects of this legislation need not become permanent. You can find out exactly how we can correct the flaws in Obamacare at gop.gov/solutions/healthcare. Again, I appreciate your thoughts on health care reform and thank you for taking the time to contact me. To stay informed
on other important issues, I encourage you to sign up for my weekly electronic newsletter at www.rooney.house.gov.
Sincerely,
Thomas J. Rooney
Member of Congress
Since we're on topic, McCollum is running for Governor against Democratic Candidate Alex Sink, you can show Alex some love here: https://secure.elwired.org/...
