Some Democrats would like to spend a week gloating over the way that a deft Messiah made lemonade from the crumbs of sausage, but the President has called us to more solemn work. We now have the responsibility to see that health care reform is done in a way that not only assures Democratic success in November, but assures American success in the 21st Century.
We should not rest on our laurels nor criticize those Democrats and other Americans who are deeply dissatisfied with the legislation that did pass. We can make this new package much better, because Democrats have a majority. Kucinich should be praised for his integrity. Most of the work lies ahead, though.
It is pathetic and unpatriotic that many former centrists running for Congress have thrown their lot in with the Tea Party people and want to repeal this. Repeal is not forward motion, but maybe some of these folks miss working with Hon. Dick Armey.
As the Tea Party movement has gained momentum during the last 12 months, it seems few Tea Partiers have caught on to the troubling past of the man at the center of their movement: FreedomWorks chairman, former House Majority Leader and recently-retired lobbyist extraordinaire, Dick Armey.
