Today, dedicated Kossacks, I'm going to issue a bold challenge.
If Jennifer Brunner is elected to the US Senate, Ohio will have the best Senate delegation. I challenge you to prove me wrong.
In his four years in the US Senate, Sherrod Brown has fought tirelessly for progressive values. In the Senate, he was hand-picked by Ted Kennedy to co-author the public option language in the Senate version of the bill, and became one of the strongest and most-outspoken advocates for the public option. Jennifer Brunner was also supportive of the public option, voicing her support via press releases, editorials, and emails to her supporters.
Sherrod Brown has been a fearless advocate on behalf of LGBT Americans. He was one of the few who voted against both "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and DOMA. Senator Brown supports marriage equality. Jennifer Brunner is also a strong ally to the LGBT community. She believes that marriage equality is a fundamental civil right that should be avaible to all Americans, regardless of sexuality. She supports the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and supports adoption rights for all parents.
Brunner and Brown both support ending our dependence on foreign oil, and both believe that our economy can be resuscitated and revitalized with green technology and the green jobs that go along with it. Brunner and Brown are strong advocates of women's rights, both believing in equal pay for equal work and are fierce defenders of a woman's right to choose. Both Brunner and Brown favor economic reform that favors hard-working Americans instead of Wall Street fatcats.
Sherrod Brown was just rated the most liberal Senator. With your help, we can elect him an ally in the fight for progressive values. We can turn this purple state, the state that helped seal the deal in Bush's elections in 2000 and 2004, into a liberal oasis in the midwest.
So, I guess my challenge to you is: what state would have a better Senate delegation than Jennifer Brunner and Sherrod Brown?
