Uncle Pat has been showing his true colors again, as well as his ignorance about the First Amendment. This time it was on Andrea Mitchell's show.
The topic was the hecklers at the Palin/McCain rally who got ejected and were allegedly assaulted by Palin/McCain supporters. Buchanan's reaction? They brought the attacks on themselves, because they were denying the First Amendment rights of Sarah Palin to speak and of her audience to listen to her.
Sorry, couldn't find a video. If anyone finds a link I'll be happy to post it. Meanwhile, my personally transcribed transcript will have to do, after the jump.
BUCHANAN: If someone goes to a rally to disrupt it and shout down a speaker and deny the speaker their First Amendment rights, and they get punched in the nose, I'm afraid that's their fault.
MITCHELL: Well, assault is assault, Pat. You know, there are rules of law here.
BUCHANAN: [Crosstalk]. . . the First Amendment gives people the right to speak at these rallies, and [sic] someone to go in there and disrupt the rights of 8000 poeple, let's say if it was in NV, that's an outrage and they ought to be thrown out of the hall. If they get punched in the nose, as I say, that may be a simple assault and the guy may be charged, but they incited the assault, and some people would feel maybe they're getting what they deserved.
Please, oh please, MSNBC, how much longer are you going to keep this troglodyte on your payroll?
