Blanche Lincoln: I voted against the public option

Hi, this is Adam Green with the PCCC. An urgent request...

In her first TV ad this year, Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln brags that she voted "against the public option health care plan" and says, "I don't answer to my party."

If this is what she's saying in a DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY, imagine how she'll vote the next 6 years! (At least Joe Lieberman pretended during his primary.)

It is absolutely critical that populist Lt. Governor Bill Halter win the May 18 primary. And he needs all of our help to do it.

Can you chip in $4 to Halter's grassroots campaign before tonight's FEC fundraising deadline? Click here.

Political insiders and reporters will look at Halter's fundraising numbers to determine his momentum going into the final 6 weeks. If you can give more than $4, please do.

Halter declared his support for allowing people to buy into a government-run insurance plan like Medicare as soon as he launched his campaign. And this week, in a major speech, he made clear what kind of Democrat he is:

I'm running as a proud Democrat...I will not run away from the beliefs we all share...

[In Blanche Lincoln,] Wall Street banks and big insurance companies have a vote that they can count on. They see our campaign catching fire and they're going to do their level best to stop it...they want to make sure their investment is protected...

But this is a fight worth fighting...This May, we all together have a chance to return the party of ideas and dreams and change to working on behalf of working Arkansas families.

Watch the video of Halter's speech and Lincoln's first ad here -- then please chip in $4 to his campaign before tonight's deadline.

When Bill Halter defeats Blanche Lincoln, every corporate Democrat will be on notice: The Democratic wing of the Democratic Party is back -- and we'll come after them too if they don't shape up.

Halter will win his campaign because of people power. The PCCC is helping him raise money to put in more phone lines for volunteers, open up regional outposts so more people can get involved throughout Arkansas, and bring on a few more paid grassroots organizers for the final stretch.

Please chip in $4 to Halter's grassroots campaign -- your donation, and thousands of others, will make a big difference together.

Thanks for being a bold progressive.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
