I love Rachel. Love her. She deserves the Meet the Press slot. She deserves to be the next head of NBC news. There isn't a smarter, more savvy, no-holds-barred reporter out there...but Rachel..as I turned away from the Butler/Duke game tonight during a break...well, below the fold...
Rachel Rachel Rachel...
You chose to end your show cheering the Red Sox come-from-behind-on-opening-night-against-the-Yankees victory. I cheered. Like you, I can't stand the cranky Yankees. Then, to my great delight, you showed what you rightly called "probably the best play of the year, and it's only the first day."
Mark Buehrle: World Series 2005 ring, perfect game last year...a sure shot for the Hall of Fame. Now this amazing play...I've been a hardcore South Side fan since I was a little kid (ironically grew up on the north side and saw more Cubs games than Sox games, but I digress).
Then Rachel, then, as you signed off, admiring Buehrle's amazing feat, you uttered those words that shall ring loudly in my ears for the rest...of...my...life....
"I don't even LIKE the White Sox."
I'm afraid I'm going to have to make a symbolic one day boycott of this blashphemer. Heck, I'm even going to root for the (gag) Yankees for the remainder of this YEAR whenever they play the Red Sox just to spite you, Rachel. SHAME ON YOU! SHAME! A POX on your SOX!!
