RKBA is a DKos group of second amendment supporters who also have progressive and liberal values. We don't think that being a liberal means one has to be anti-gun. Some of us are extreme in our second amendment views (no licensing, no restrictions on small arms) and some of us are more moderate (licensing, restrictions on small arms.) Moderate or extreme, we hold one common belief: more gun control equals lost elections. We don't want a repeat of 1994. We are an inclusive group: if you see the Second Amendment as safeguarding our right to keep and bear arms individually, then come join us in our conversation. If you are against the right to keep and bear arms, come join our conversation. We look forward to seeing you, as long as you engage in a civil discussion. RKBA stands for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
Shadan7 has two interesting things for us today.
I think I have finally found the source of the "penis = gun" meme which is so popular among the antis:

I'd like to suggest that we restrain from using the term "hoplophobe" (and its variations). Almost invariably it results in a distraction about the term rather than whatever the actual topic at hand is.

TG's Food for Thought:
Some people feel intimidated when they see people carrying firearms in public, so they want to restrict or ban the practice of open carry. Let's follow that logic a bit further:
Some people are afraid of dogs -- therefore, by this logic, we should ban or restrict people being able to walk their dogs in public.
Some people are afraid of bikers -- therefore, by this logic, we should ban or restrict KVoimakas appearing in public.
No, the logic doesn't hold up that well, when it is followed to the obvious concusions. There very well may be valid arguments against open carry, or uncontrolled dogs in public, or KVoimakas being able to freely move around without supervision [Harsh dude. -KV], but the fears of a few people do not make up a part of those valid arguments.
After five years, ‘Mrs. Seaview’ has agreed to get her Delaware CCDW (Carry Concealed Deadly Weapon) permit. We have been busy fulfilling the requirements (link):
Sending the $73 legal announcement to the local paper
Scheduling her for finger palm printing at the State Police barracks
Completing the five reference questionnaires from friends who live in our county
Arranging for classroom and range training by a NRA-certified instructor
Obtaining "passport style" photos
Completing the application
Delaware is a "may-issue" state, meaning that the Superior Court judges can approve or deny her application for whatever reasons they see fit. However, in practice, anyone who passes the (extensive) background check, and gives valid reasons for wanting a CCDW permit, is usually granted the permit.
The process should take about three months. If successful, I will feel a little better when she and her mother are out shopping...

Lastly, KV was given some very interesting info this morning:

CHEYENNE – The attorneys general for Utah and Wyoming said Wednesday that their states and South Dakota will join a federal lawsuit pending in Montana in which pro-gun groups are seeking to protect that state's sovereign right to regulate guns.
The attorneys general confirmed that they plan to file a "friend of the court" brief in the Montana case this week, and that South Dakota also plans to join them.
All the states involved have enacted "firearms freedom" laws that seek to exempt guns made and sold within their borders from federal regulation.
I'm curious as to what you guys and ladies think about this. Thoughts?
