Things are really heating up here in Arkansas and the differences between Blanche Lincoln and Bill Halter are becoming more apparent every day. And trust me, you guys have got to see and hear this stuff for yourselves.
First, take a look at this video. (The video wouldn't embed.) Notice the difference in the Halter and Lincoln events in the same town (Fayetteville)? Halter's event is packed and brimming with energy, Lincoln talks to empty chairs and people who seem to be falling asleep.
But that's not all.
In the little town of Brinkley, Blanche Lincoln and her staunchest supporter, the tired old fart named Marion Berry that I have to call my Congressman (though not for too much longer as he's retiring) really showed us why we have to show Senator Lincoln the door.
First, Berry:
"I can’t wait to be on a program with him," Berry, who endorsed Lincoln at the event, said of Halter. "I never did like him from the very beginning. I can find a thousand people and not one of them likes him."
Can you think of a better example of the good ol' boy system at its worst?
Then there's this wonderful little nugget from Blanche herself:
Lincoln heavily pushed her clout as the chair of the Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee – the oldest committee in the senate – and her spot on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee. She said that green jobs focused on renewable fuels and biofuels were critical in lessening the country’s dependence on foreign oil and "not a cap and trade bill."
Catering to the anti-environmental farming crowd, Lincoln touted her co-sponsorship of the Murkowski resolution, which would deny the EPA the right to regulate greenhouse gases. She said that it indicated to the EPA that they do not have the right to regulate.
She hinted that farmers could make their own decisions regarding pesticide use as her late father, a farmer, carefully studied pesticide labels. Farmers, she said, can make wise decisions.
Wonderful future she's creating for us ain't it?
Now that you've seen more proof that we can win this and more reason for us to do so, please, contribute to Bill Halter. There are so many reasons to get involved with this and there's a lot riding on it. Bill can win, but not without the continued support of all of us willing to stand up to polluters and the good ol' boy (and girl) network.
