Quilt top for MA Liberal’s mom
We need 22 17 14 11 6 more messages for Lorikeet – but first, an update!
The sewing machines have been humming chez nous. Tonight, we will be layering and tying a bed-sized quilt for the mother of MA Liberal (pictured above). A quilt diary for a message quilt for MA Liberal, herself, will be coming up before long – she quit her job in order to take care of her mother who has Alzheimer’s (surely one of the cruelest diseases a family can face). But first things, first – MA Liberal wanted some of the warmth of our community quilts for her mother. While the top is full of flowers, fruits, travel images, and other fun pictures, the backing is a soothing floral:

We are also working on Charles CurtisStanley’s quilt – which is coming at a helpful time. I don’t know if you all have heard, but Kitsap River’s sister did not work out as a kidney donor match – and Charles’ caregiver role continues in the wake of this terrible disappointment. His quilt will coordinate with Kitsap River’s with the same block pattern as hers:

Here we are choosing a fabric for one of Charles’ blocks:

And here are some others in the making:

It’s a bright palette, full of cheer – because we have chose a jewel-toned fabric of angel wings for his backing and border fabrics. Fitting, no?
