First I’d like to thank all of you in the Daily Kos community for putting us
on your Orange to Blue fundraising page. As you know campaigns are about
communicating with voters and your financial support can help us spread a
progressive message and defend against false negative attacks.
So with that said, let’s get to the issues.
Jack is running for United States Senate to help Kentucky working families
who are struggling to get by in the worst economic recession since the Great
Depression. Throughout his public service he’s treated elected office like a
public trust and focused on getting results for citizens and taxpayers. As
Attorney General, he has taken on the big pharmaceutical and oil companies
and saved over $200 million for Kentucky taxpayers. He created a cybercrimes
division that has removed over 55,000 images of child pornography from the
internet. And he worked across party lines to help to conduct the largest
drug bust in Kentucky state history. These accomplishments reflect Jack’s
serious and confident approach to public service.
As a Senate candidate, Jack has taken a stand on core Democratic principles
like providing every citizen access to quality affordable health care.
Although the health care bill was not perfect, he would have proudly cast a
historic vote for this significant first step toward much needed reform. On
the other hand, his opponent, Dr. Daniel Mongiardo, refused to support
health care reform and even now insists that he’d only support it if the
President personally called on him. But the funny thing is Mongiardo also
said he wouldn’t want the President to come to Kentucky. Jack thinks you
must always respect the office of the President.
For too long Kentucky has been embarrassed by eccentric or out-of-touch
representation in Washington. Kentucky deserves better than Jim Bunning and
Mitch McConnell. Jack will bring progressive new leadership to Washington
and give Kentucky a strong advocate for working families. We hope you’ll
join our campaign.
This Friday from 12-2pm EST Jack will be taking questions about our race and the ways that the Daily Kos community can help us win in May. I hope that you can join us for this great event.
