In my diary last week, about teaching, I was able to vent some of my pent up emotions and concerns about education in the US. The general thrust of the diary was to discuss institutional sexism and corporatism. I was greeted with some very supportive comments, and thanks to you who commented! I was reminded of the very real issues of curriculum in the US (read Toddlerbob's diary for more about this).
However, there was a particular commenter concerned only with teacher retirement systems that are unfair and so on.

So, here's my desire: everyone out there who
A) hates teachers
B) thinks teachers make too much money
C) thinks teachers have it too easy
D) thinks teachers should be targeted for budget cuts
Please explain. No, don't tell me those things I just highlighted. Explain what happened to you to have such strong feelings against teachers. Were you poorly treated by a 7th grade gym teacher (the one I had made fun of my flabby physique and horrible hair...really)? Did you get intimidated by bullies in the classroom and teachers did nothing to help? Give me your anecdotes, let's have a therapy session. Pull up on Aureas' couch. Because if you don't have a personal reason to hate teachers, I can't comprehend where all the anti-teacher sentiments come from. Oh, yeah, except that it's easy to blame teachers for problems (again, see my previous diary to read the rant).
But hey, that's not fair...let's not limit it to one side. Anyone have great teacher stories? Share those for counterbalance. And my sanity!
