The Oklahoma Senate just voted to override Governor Brad Henry's vetos of their two latest abortion restriction related laws.

The first law requires an ultrasound prior to the abortion, and then "counseling" to describe what the ultrasound shows, and the second law is almost worse than the first:
The other measure approved by legislators Tuesday prohibits pregnant women and their families from seeking legal damages if physicians "knowingly and negligently" withhold key information or provide inaccurate information about their pregnancies.
Basically, if a doctor lies to you about your pregnancy, or withholds information (say, the fetus is genetically damaged, and probably won't live after birth), he cannot be sued.
Governor Henry (a Democrat) is well aware of what these laws will do:
"It signals the beginning of another costly and possibly futile legal battle for the state of Oklahoma. Both laws will be challenged and, in all likelihood, overturned by the courts as unconstitutional," he said. "I fear this entire exercise will ultimately be a waste of taxpayers' time and money."
A lawsuit has already been filed by The Center for Reproductive Rights today.
Women's rights are being eroded every single day, rights we fought for and rights which people like Dr. George Tiller died for. States like Utah, Nebraska, Kansas, and South Carolina are all devising legislation similar to Oklahoma, determined to win their final goal of making abortion illegal again.
Fight back.
