Dow Chemical has given the world Styrofoam, Agent Orange and a number of life’s other most unsavory "innovations." But Dow PR execs thought that they had scored a coup when they sponsored a "Run for Water" in conjunction with Live Earth on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY to kick off Earth Week. After the run, participants would be treated to a concert featuring pop star John Legend and hip hop group, The Roots. Sounds great, right?
But instead of a blissful run through the park, participants were treated to a horror show as the event was crashed by a host of pranksters and activists who turned the event into a Wes Craven version of the final scene in Animal House, where the "Eat Me" cake turns into the Death Mobile and wreaks havoc:
The picturesque course was instead populated by death scenes, zombies, Indian activist children, and about a hundred "Dow spokesmen" (courtesy of the Yes Men), who chased runners, reminded folks (in prepubescent screams) of who won’t clean up the Bhopal "worst chemical disaster of all time" toxic waste site, and yelled "Our race! Our earth!" and "Run for water! Run for your life!" at the runners dressed as fake Dow PR types.

"I don't know what's going on here," said Tracey Von Sloop, a Queens woman who attended the race. "All I know is these people are both crazy, and Dow is f*ing sick. I'm outta here."
