A new ad released by Jack Conway's campaign for the United States Senate, shows that DINO Dan Mongiardo thinks big Wall Street banks did NOT cause the financial crisis that led to the greatest economic downturn since the Great Depression. On the video, taken at the Louisville Metro Democratic Club debate, Mongiardo says that the crisis "didn't happen because companies were too big...these banks and these insurance companies didn't fail because they got too big."

Mongiardo apparently doesn't understand that the irresponsible greed of Wall Street's "too-big-to-fail" institutions caused the financial mess we're in.
And why should we expect he would? His own greed has cost taxpayers over $100,000 since he became Lieutenant Governor just over two years ago.
As has been demonstrated repeatedly in recent weeks by reports from some of the state's most respected newspapers, Mongiardo has abused the public trust by taking money from taxpayers' pocketbooks to fund lavish personal travel and private land development deals.
Now, with just two weeks left before the primary election, the debate footage shows why Mongiardo is part of our economic problem - not part of the solution.
Kentuckians have a clear choice in the Democratic primary on May 18th. Jack Conway has built his campaign around fighting to bring accountability to Wall Street and Washington, create jobs and reduce the deficit. Conway understands we need Wall Street reform to end the bailouts and stop any institution from ever again becoming "too-big-to-fail." These are necessary steps toward improving the economy in Kentucky and our nation.
"At a time when Kentucky families are hurting, it's unbelievable that professional politician Dan Mongiardo can ask for votes while he's using Kentuckians' precious tax dollars for his personal luxury travel and private land development deals. His casual attitude toward the greed and irresponsibility of Wall Street is frankly quite disturbing. How can Dan Mongiardo fix our economy if he doesn't even realize why it's broken?" said Conway spokesperson Allison Haley.
