I am reminded of the words of our founding father, Thomas Jefferson. 3/4ths of this Senate are not fit to polish his statue. The words this titan among men once said were . . .

"The bank mania... is raising up a moneyed aristocracy in our country which has already set the government at defiance, and although forced at length to yield a little on this first essay of their strength, their principles are unyielded and unyielding. These have taken deep root in the hearts of that class from which our legislators are drawn, and the sop to Cerberus from fable has become history. Their principles lay hold of the good, their pelf of the bad, and thus those whom the Constitution had placed as guards to its portals, are sophisticated or suborned from their duties."

--Thomas Jefferson to Josephus B. Stuart, 1817. ME 15:112

    Cry about that, Glenn Beck!

In the face of the defeat of the Kaufman-Brown Amendment to break up the Too Big To Fail banks, I have this to say.

F*** these Corporate Senators and the Bankers Limos They Rode In On!!!!

Much, much more below the fold

Pre-rant self promotion-

Vote for MinistryOfTruth to get a netroots scholarship so I can personally thank Senator Al Franken for voting for the Kaufman-Brown amendment!

The failure of the Kaufman-Brown Amendment 33-61 to end the Too Big To Fail banks that crashed our economy amounts to a second bailout in my opinion. The point of Government is NOT to protect the banks from the people. Our democracy is obviously broken when the banks OWN the Government.

The evil has been produced by the error of their sanction of this ruinous machinery of banks; and justice, wisdom, duty, all require that they should interpose and arrest it before the schemes of plunder and spoilation desolate the country."

--Thomas Jefferson to William C. Rives, 1819. ME 15:232

This is Thomas Jefferson telling America 200 years ago to regulate the banks and that the greed of the super rich would own our sorry asses if we ever let them, and for a long time they have, but now we know who they are.

And when push came to shove yesterday, 2/3rds of our House of Lords Senate shoved Main St America right under the Bus, a bus driven by the Super Rich and their vampire capitalism fueled Corporate persons.

So here is the ULTIMATE BRIBE, Senators help the banksters rob Americans and they'll help trick the fools into voting Senators into office with the money the banks just stole from them.

But we will not forget.

Under Brown-Kaufman, no bank could hold more than 10 percent of the total amount of insured deposits, and a limit would have been placed on liabilities of a single bank to two percent of GDP.

In practice, the amendment required the six biggest banks -- Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley -- to significantly scale down their size. It was touted as a way to end Too Big To Fail.

Though top Obama administration officials have not publicly opposed the amendment, its leading economists have opposed ending Too Big To Fail simply by breaking up the nation's financial behemoths. Austan Goolsbee and Larry Summers have both fought back against this idea, as has Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

Here are the 61 NAY and 6 absentee votes that helped defeat the Kaufman-Brown Amendment to break up the Too Big To Fail banking trusts.

To the 5 Senators who are not in poor health and couldn't even bother to vote, F U! It is your JOB! Here is an idea for cutting spending, PAY SENATORS MINIMUM WAGE!

Chris Dodd? This is YOUR financial reform bill! What were you afraid there was too much reform in the bill, or do you plan on getting a job at these banks as soon as you retire?

And Chuck Schumer, you can eat derivatives, you tool!

In all 29 Dems voted NO!, thus pledging fealty to our Corporate oligarchs, the banksters. With all the fear of electoral loses this year I could give a shit about these 29 sell outs. Half the Democrats in the Senate are owned by the banks, owned just as the entire Conservative corporatist movement is. You can not lose majorities you do not have, and Democrats and Progressives do NOT have majorities in the Senate, the banks do!

I am also sending my big F U out to the 3 and a half Republicans and one Corporatist Democrat who voted Yea on this bill, who are

Coburn (NO-OK)
Ensign (Adulterer-NV)
Lincoln (Desperate Shill-AR)
Shelby (Offered amendment to gut the Consumer Protection Agency earlier in the day-AL)
Specter (D/R-PA)

Coburn, Ensign and Shelby obviously voted Yea so they could give cover to the GOP so they don't look totally owned by the banks, and Specter would still be a Bush supporting, Palin backing Republican if not for a certain loss in a Republican primary and his primary challenge by the only real Democrat running for Senate in Pennsylvania, Rich Sestak, and Blanche Lincoln is in the same boat as Specter, facing a tough primary against the Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas, Bill Halter.

Knocking off those four and you have, at best, only 28 Senators who are NOT totally owned by the Finance Oligopoly of America.

Begich (D-AK)
Bingaman (D-NM)
Boxer (D-CA)
Brown (D-OH)
Burris (D-IL)
Cantwell (D-WA)
Cardin (D-MD)
Casey (D-PA)
Dorgan (D-ND)
Durbin (D-IL)
Feingold (D-WI)
Franken (D-MN)
Harkin (D-IA)
Kaufman (D-DE)
Leahy (D-VT)
Levin (D-MI)
Merkley (D-OR)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Murray (D-WA)
Pryor (D-AR)
Reid (D-NV)
Rockefeller (D-WV)
Sanders (I-VT)
Stabenow (D-MI)
Udall (D-NM)
Webb (D-VA)
Whitehouse (D-RI)
Wyden (D-OR)

Senators Burris, Dorgan and Kaufman will NOT be in the Senate after this year. That means that there will be in the next Senate, at best, only 25 Senators who are not totally owned by the Big Banks.

I swear to the depths of hell that I will use PeanutButterPAC as a tool to beat the political tar out of the 2/3rds of the Senate who just voted to let the banks crash the economy again, and I hope you join me.

Because I will not lift a single finger for the Corporatist slimeballs who voted against this bill or did nothing, and the 5 phonies who voted for it to cover their asses can all eat derivatives too.

   28 Senators are worth keeping.

The other 72 Senators for sale can go F*** themselves and the Bankers Limos they rode in on.

Let's change the pledge of allegiance so these Corporatist Senators and their henchmen feel right at home.

I pledge allegiance to the stock of the Bank of America, and to the Plutonomy for which it stands, one unfettered Corporatist free market, under God, divisible, with wage slavery and injustice for all but the super rich and high Government officials.

Please, call or write your Senators who voted YEA, except those obviously phony, bought off hacks like Lincoln, Specter, Ensign, Coburn and Shelby, and give them a BIG THANK YOU for standing up to the banksters.

And if your Senators voted NAY or didn't vote at all (Sen. Byrd excepted for health reasons), please call or write them and let them know what cheap, lying, no good, rotten, four-flushing, lowlife, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, d---less, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spiny-necked, worm-headed sacks of monkey shit they are.

Hallelujah, Holy shit!

Where is the Tylenol?

Clark Griswold speaks for me on this one.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
