Ever since Cape Wind ran into massive NIMBY-ism here in Massachusetts, I've been wanting to run an ad to try and change a few minds, and British Petroleum's oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico has given me the perfect graphic with which to do so. Click below to see two versions of the ad (both are PDF) - first, the full-size image for a half-page newspaper ad:

And a smaller 11" x 8.5" ad for printing on your home computer and/or emailing to friends and family:

Here's a smaller picture of the ad:
I realize that it's a little raw, so please join me over the fold and maybe we can make them better...
I've seen some awesome graphics of the oil spill in diaries here, but for print ads I need the full size images - can anyone help me out with that? Fish out of Water had some great, color-enhanced graphics in a diary earlier today, but they were small jpegs hosted at ImageShack, and I need the full size image from the federal government. I have the rights to the windmill picture used in the ad, but I'd love to have a more dramatic picture of the spill.
The text is pretty simple - I'm not sure if I need anything else there. Please weigh in with suggestions in the comments, ok?
Peanut Butter PAC is a registered federal PAC, organized by several Kossacks including myself, Ministry of Truth, Something The Dog Said, pistolSO and several others. We have eight guiding principles in our organizing prospectus - this ad dovetails with item 2:
- To support job creation with good pay and benefits, to protect and preserve good jobs for the American people, and to support and defend the rights of all Americans to organize and participate in Labor Unions.
- To promote and support a sustainable and environmentally friendly Energy Policy that will lead America away from the unsustainable consumption of fossil fuels and our dependence on foreign energy sources.
- To curtail the use of torture as a policy and practice of the United States of America, and for legal accountability for the use of torture, focused on those leaders who approved its use. Anything we've prosecuted people for in the past is a crime and should be treated as such.
- To rebuild America’s outdated and depreciated infrastructure and transportation systems.
- To support and defend the civil rights of all Americans, as defined by the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America and envisioned by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, regardless of race, religion, ethnic heritage, gender, or sexual orientation.
- To promote and support quality health care for all Americans through reforms and policies such as, but not limited to, Medicare for All.
- To promote and support America’s public education system and education reforms that bear in mind the best interests of the American people.
- To fight Corporate and Special Interests influence in Government by supporting and defending Campaign Finance Reform and supporting and advocating on behalf of Publicly Funded Elections.
We are currently making monthly donations and we're moving towards weekly donations as we gain enough members. We need seed money with which to organize and get our message out to a larger audience, and to run ads like this one. Please consider joining or making a working capital donation today - thanks!
