This morning I read several different headlines.
1)Rand Paul Says Businesses Should Have Right To Discriminate
2)FOX News Anchor Tells Michael Steele: 'Everybody Hates You'
3)Philandering Congressman Blames DC For Sexual Misconduct
And this is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak.
I keep hearing about how the Dems are going to lose big in Congress in November. Hmmmm. November is a long time and with headlines like this, I can't help but wonder......Is it me or is the GOP intent on shooting themselves in the proverbial foot?
Perhaps they are so confident of winning, that they think they can get away with doing and/or saying anything they want. I think this is a good thing for the Dems because I cannot help but believe that their actions and words are doing more to help the Dems and hurt the GOP.
For instance, I just cannot believe that the majority of people in Kentucky want to go back to before the 60's and civil right legislation. Rand Paul obviously does not have the political savvy of his father. Now I know this family not due to political affiliation but due to family affiliation. Ron Paul is perhaps the only maverick in the GOP. After all he did run for POTUS as a Libertarian and only converted to the GOP when he realized he could not win as a Libertarian. I know the family is a bunch of ideologues but come on. Won't his statements just energize the Democratic base to go out and vote against him?
I know pundits on Fox News will probably sing his praises but after watching them predict victory in the PA Congressional special election, they have proven to be completely out of touch. I loved it when Keith Olberman calls Sarah Palin an idiot. Let her talk Keith. Every time she opens that mouth and makes these idiotic statements she is only energizing the other side. Perhaps the Dems won because the PA Governor was smart enough to hold the special election on the same night as the Primary. Perhaps the Dems won because Sarah was busy predicting a landslide win for the GOP and that encouraged everyone else but the crazies to run like hell and vote Dem. Or perhaps this district who has been represented by the deceased John Murtha for years truly is a Democratic District and not particularly motivated by crazy GOP propaganda nor impressed with the tea party crazies.
Apparently the head of the RNC is in serious trouble when the FOX pundits say EVERYONE HATES HIM. Does that include those nuts at FOX? Because if it does, then indeed, Steele is in some deep doo doo. I can't help but think this is problematic for the GOP as Steele is the head of the RNC. I mean who, other than the crazy tea baggers or obstructionists corporate entities are going to give this guy money? NO money means less lying crap on TV in the fall paid for by the RNC. No loss there.
And sex in Washington is no big deal anymore. I mean come on....after what we went through with the Clintons, give me a break. However, when you stage an interview on sexual abstinence with the very aide you are having sex with posing as a reporter, even the conservatives are going to have problems with that one. Or how about the guy who is against gays but goes to Europe with a gay man he rented online. No wonder the tea baggers are angry. They should be angry with the GOP because as far as I can see the GOP is nothing but liars and hypocrites that would sell their soul to the devil to gain power.
As I said in the beginning, this is just the tip of the iceberg. I mean there is Glen Beck pounding the Bible and using words he obviously doesn't understand. NO wonder his ratings are dropping. I guess he missed the part in the Bible where it says "the love of money is the root of all evil." Or perhaps he just does what every other member of the GOP appears to be doing.....talking out of one side of his mouth while doing what he damn well pleases. One of his sponsors, some gold selling company, happens to be one of the WORST companies to sell your gold to due to the fact that they RIP OFF their customers. Perhaps they have to rip off their customers in order to pay off Glenn. I heard Congressman Weiner indicated that Beck's association with this company might be illegal. Personally, I'd love to see some of Beck's money cut off and see him have to pay it all pay plus legal fees and fines. Of course he's probably making enough money so any fine is irrelevant just like fining BP is totally irrelevant as they are making too much money in profits to care about any stinking fines.
Add to this the GOP's support for the Arizona immigration law, their obstructionist behavior in support of limiting liability to BP, their lack of support for financial reform as well as a slew of candidates like the chicken lady in running for the Senate in Nevada and an assortment of other gaffs and all I can say at this point is that this notion that the GOP is going to win big in November is nothing but an assumption. And you know what happens when you make assumptions. They are usually wrong.
Lately it seems that every time I read the news it just pisses me off but you know there is another way of looking at it. It's so pathetic that you can't do anything but have a good laugh. Perhaps that's why the Daily Show is number one source of news for people under 30.
