Hah, hah...
Oh, sorry. I'm just, tee-hee, pardon me for a minute.
ahem.
Woo! Okay. Let me compose myself. I'm sorry. I usually hold myself together during these tough times, but I have not been able to stop laughing.
Her visit drew about 1,500 to the 5,000-seat Qwest Arena comes just five days before Tuesday's primary and Ward's showdown with rival state Rep. Raul Labrador for the GOP nomination for Idaho's 1st Congressional District (sic- I don't know how they FUBARed this sentence so, you get the point).
Why is this funny? Because "she" is Sarah Palin.
Alright. For the vast majority of you, you probably still don't get it.
Well, here's the deal. Qwest Arena, as noted above, is capable of holding 5,000 people.
Both Labrador and Ward are nutbags, but Ward is desperately trying to out-nutbag the nutbag Labrador. And things are getting tense between the two because the local teabaggers Very Concerned Tea Party endorsed Labrador, but Sarah Palin endorsed Ward. Horror of horrors, whatever will the republican party do?
Well, anyway. Ward's campaign is strapped for cash and thought a visit from Caribou Barbie would ramp things up.
For those of you not familiar with Idaho, 1,500 probably sounds like a pretty remarkable turnout. You'd be wrong.
Which brings me to my uncontrollable laughter:
When Al Gore showed up:
At Boise State, Gore and his slide show sold out 10,000 seats at the Taco Bell Arena, reportedly "faster than Elton John."
I was lucky enough to be one of those people. It was NOT easy getting tickets; the server kept crashing due to high demand.
Barack Obama
BOISE – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama addressed an enthusiastic overflow crowd of more than 14,000 at Boise’s Taco Bell Arena early this morning, stressing that he brought a message of hope and change.
"If you are ready for change, then we can change this country," Obama declared in a rousing 45-minute speech.
Organizers who had prepared for 8,000 or so had to scramble to remove a curtain that initially obscured the area behind the stage, allowing the crowd to fill up the entire stadium. Traffic backed up as early as 7 a.m. for the 9 a.m. speech, and the line to get in snaked across the Boise State University campus.
(Emphasis mine).
So, sorry if I can't control my laughter, Sarah. If you can't pack a stadium in red Idaho, you're kind of a joke. You're as politically relevant here as Ron Paul.
Now, will trad-med bother reporting on her irrelevance? I report. You decide.
