I'm going to make this short and sweet. I just turned away from the MSM pundit news shows before I threw my shoe at Michael Steele on ABC or John Cornyn on NBC because THEY CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!
Sorry about the all caps but it is really frustrating. All I hear from Republicans whether they be mainstream or tea baggers is they want "limited government". They are tired of government spending and government borrowing and so on. You know the crap!
But without taking a breath, Michael Steele goes on about where is the Federal government in taking care of the oil spill. Where is the Federal government in creating jobs or helping with unemployment.
OK, by current Republican philosophy, BP, which is a private enterprise, should take care of this themselves. I mean isn't that what Rand Paul was griping about? Government intrusion into private business? By their very own words, the government should stay out of it and let the "experts" take care of it....which it basically has done.
Although the Coast Guard has been out there right from the get go trying to do their jobs....ie. attempting to protect the coastline. However, it should be pointed out that it is NOT, let me repeat that, it is NOT the Coast Guard's expertise to clean up oil.
Now the Federal Government led by POTUS Obama has done EXACTLY what they are advocating. They are only now stepping in for several reasons.
1)The oil spill has come dangerously close to the coast. In fact in some areas, it has actually saturated beaches and wetlands.
2)It has become abundantly clear that BP has been lying about well, basically EVERYTHING.
3)The allegedly SAFE and EPA APPROVED dispersants are extrememly toxic to ANYTHING, (plants, fish, animals, humans) that come into contact with it and there is a very good reason to believe that it will make matters WORSE than the actual oil itself.
So on one hand they don't want any rules imposed by the government on how private industry does their business but then they want the federal government to come in and clean up the mess that private industry made.
OK, Michael Steele, Rand Paul, John Cornyn and any other Republican or tea bagger.........YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS! I repeat......YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS.
Because when you speak out of both sides of your mouth that is called HYPOCRISY. Now I know you don't like to check the actual dictionary for the meaning of words so I will go one step farther by spelling it our for you according to Webster's Unabridged Dictionary.....
Hyprcrisy --
- a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess.
- a pretense of having some desirable or publicly approved attitude.
Now I know you guys are hell bent on rewriting history so I have no doubt that you will consider Webster's Unabridged dictionary some socialist or communist plot and put that on your next hit list, but as of today, it still stands pertinent.
Michael Steele went on about unemployment. Mr Steele doesn't bother to point out that it is his very party who keeps getting in the way of extending unemployment benefits. They have done this not once, not twice but at least 3 times that I can count and possibly more. (I'm sure someone here will correct me. thanks in advance).
Or possibly Mr Steele and his party just doesn't want to pay any unemployment at all and let all the people who are out of work directly due to Bush and the GOP's outrageous policies of the past, just fend for themselves like they did in the 1930's. Yes, sir, that really would be helpful wouldn't it. Well, Mr Steele, why don't you go live in Mexico for awhile and see what live is like without that Federal support. Because Mexico is the perfect example of a country without any Federalism to come to the rescue. There is no FEMA to help people when they get hit by hurricanes. There is no unemployment. There is no social security. There is no federal assistance to help rich industrial farmers. Shall I continue? You and your party want to make illegal immigration an issue without understanding the problem. Once again your stupidity is showing.
Mr Steele also went on about the government creating jobs. Isn't it private enterprises job to create jobs? Does Mr Steele expect the federal government to go in and MANDATE that private industry start hiring people? Does Mr Steele want the Federal Government to give private industry taxpayer's money to hire more employees? If so, both of these ideas are quite contrary to both Mainstream Republican philosophy as well as Tea Party propaganda. In fact, Mr Steele, I'll bet you ANYTHING you want, that if Obama even attempted to do such a thing, we would have Glen Beck, Sarah Palin and the entire assundry of conservative pundits screaming socialism, communism and other big words they don't understand.
I live in Texas and we are affected by both the Gulf spill and the immigration issue. Lately there has been increased violence on the MX side of the border due to the cartels fighting each other. What does Republican Rick Perry do? Calls for the Federal Government to send down troops to help. Rick Perry.....who has been endorsed by Sarah Palin and the tea baggers. Hell, they even helped him win the GOP Primary against the Washington insider Kay Bailey Hutchinson who was backed by the way by Dick Cheney. Rick Perry hasn't gotten an answer or at least not the one he wanted. I think that the lack of an answer is his answer especially considering that not to long ago, he refused to take federal stimulus money because he didn't want the Federal government telling us Texans what to do. Now he's crying to that same government for help?
I repeat.....YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!
Having experience in the oil and gas field, I realize that this oil spill is very serious and with Hurricane season coming and no end in site in actually controlling this thing, it could get so bad that the only words to describe the consequences are CATASTROPHIC, APOLCALYPTIC, etc. And I realize that what I'm about to say next is politically and environmentally incorrect. But I hope that oil washes up onto the beaches and permeates the wetlands of every one of these stinking RED states and makes a HUGE Freaking mess. And I dare them to blame the Federal government who they publicly profess should stay the hell out of private industry. If that happens, maybe, just maybe, it will make them stop and actually use their own brain and think for a second about how much the Federal government does for them. However, more likely, they will just turn on Fox News and continue their hypocritical chatter out of both sides of their mouths. Too bad there isn't a pill for stupidity or hypocrisy, because if there was, the inventor would surely become the richest man/woman in the world.
I know I said I would keep this short, but their doublespeak as Orwell would have called it is just maddening.
