As they say, winners write history. That is why the election for the governor's office in dear ol' Texas is of the highest importance this fall.
A little known fact is that until the textbooks go to press, the education board chairman can review any section or requirements of the textbooks in question.
Don't just take my word for it:
More conservative textbook curriculum OK'd

Review a possibility
Democratic lawmakers and other critics have suggested that when a new board of education takes office in January – after two social conservatives have been replaced by more moderate members – the board should reconsider the standards and make substantial changes.
Asked about that possibility, McLeroy said there is nothing to prohibit such a move, but he contended that "when people look at what we've done, they won't find much to change."
Most experts say it is unlikely that the board will revisit the social studies curriculum – unless Democrat Bill White wins the governor's race this fall. If that happens, White would appoint the education board chairman, who controls the panel's agenda and could put the issue back before the board next year.
Change is unlikely if Gov. Rick Perry wins re-election. The last two board chairs appointed by Perry were part of the social conservative bloc – McLeroy and current Chairwoman Gail Lowe, R-Lampasas – who strongly support the new social studies requirements.
There you go folks, if we get White in the Governor's Mansion we can end this madness. We will not allow the knuckleheads to turn our schools into madrasas for radical neoconservatives.
White should make this a campaign issue, where Texas children are guarantees a fact based education instead of indoctrination by Republicans for political gain.
Now is the time for all Texans to come forth for the defense of basic common sense in the Lone Star.
No more strongly worded letters to the meta editors, get out there and help White help end this bullshit.
Because at the end of the day, that is exactly what Rick Perry and his heretical disciples on the school board are doing, shoveling bullshit into the minds of young Texas, and that bullshit has got to stop.
