There might be some incriminating evidence against the IDF operation.
Two foreign, female journalists are missing?
http://cpj.org/...
Israel's PR people have made a mistake, in my opinion. They should have said some commandos acted inappropriately, we are sorry for the casualties, and those responsible will be held accountable. THE END. No mercurial justifications that make Israel look even worse.....again, in my opinion.
And why were there no impartial, international observers around?
THE HARD FACTS: Nine families will receive the deceased bodies of their loved ones soon, if not already.
What possible justification can relieve the commandos who killed nine activists from any accountability? Dressed in full body armor and armed to the teeth, with helicopters hovering above, how can we believe they really thought they would be killed if they didn't kill?
Nine families will never hear the voices of their loved ones again. Never feel their warm touch. Never! Their loved ones, whose hearts were brave enough to take a stand against what they deemed the unfair siege of Palestine, died at the hands of Israeli commandos.
Nine dead activists
Nine dead activists.
Was nineteen, now it's nine.
Are we to feel relieved with the lessor number dead? It makes me cry! You?
And now we learn that all the possessions of the activists were confiscated, taken away from them, GONE. Where was the international community? How can Israel be left alone at the scene of a potential crime they seem to have perpetrated?
Is it because the behavior of Israel in this circumstance is just that jaw dropping? Or are there no international laws on the books to handle this?
Where were any "others" to witness the events, for surely it was obvious that a confrontation was about to unfold? Are there satellite images? And, if so, will they, too, be confiscated and/or disappeared?
I have avoided any/all I/P discussions for years here because of the quick descent from reasonable discussion to accusations that anyone disagreeing with Israel's actions are anti-semitic.
I don't want to see that attached to this diary. I don't believe there are many anti-semites here. Some, of course sadly. However, there are quite a few Attackers of any/all who question or oppose Israeli actions.
What I find there are a lot of are anti-bullies and anti-thugs.
It's what we hate about bullies and thugs, not Jewish people, that has us upset about what happened on the flotilla.
Again, NINE ACTIVISTS ARE DEAD....DEAD.....DEAD.....DEAD.
It's just an inconvenient truth that it was Israeli soldiers that shot and killed 9 activists. And that doesn't help people to have faith in the kindness and fairness of those representing Israel.
In my opinion and that of others, the leaders of Israel have, for quite some time even decades, behaved in disproportionately heavy handed ways with whole populations because a few of their bad apples have harmed Israeli citizens and/or a few bad apples launch kind-of-underwhelming looking missiles from Gaza that rarely seem to hit anyone, with some exceptions of course.
Because of a few bad apples, Lebenon's capital was bombed and many civilians died and/or lost all they own a couple of years ago.
Because of a few bad apples, the entire city of Gaza has been under seige for what seems like forever.
Imagine the horror we would all have felt, for a silly example, if our government had bombed Timothy McVeigh's home town back to the stone age because of what he and his cronies did in Oklahoma.
Israel's PR department seems to always miss the boat (no pun intended today).
If only for PR reasons, Israel had chosen the higher road and helped their neighbors over the past 60+ years, in spite of the acts of a few bad apples, is it possible we could have avoided the now world-wide networks of radical terrorists?
Why not give out some little niceties, like when some illegal Israeli settlements were abandoned a few years ago, why couldn't they have left the homes for the Palestinian refugees to live in, instead of bulldozing them. What a waste! Who knows, one of the Palestinian children moving in could of grown up to be a doctor instead of possibly becoming a terrorist.
We will never know. And stupid is as stupid does. Money continues to be poured into the machines of death and destruction instead of humanitarian and environmental improvements.
Disproportionate percentages of national budgets are spent defensively instead of offensively, or so it seems. And, in the US a third of our budget is spent both defensively and offensively but militarily...but I could be wrong.
It seems like too many world leaders have lost sight of what's "good for all".
We, the world's entire population, are at risk of complete and utter destruction unless and until we act to stop this downward spiral of annihilation. Or worse, to be forced to live in fear based, totalitarianism as in the movie "V"
How can we act? It is up to each of us to answer that; however, act we all must.
Me, I'm putting a clothes line in my yard and ending my use of a dryer. If the Danes can do it, so can I. I open windows instead of running the A/C. I buy fresh, not packaged foods. I don't buy stuff unnecessarily. I keep my weight down, workout, and do all I can to be healthy. Well, just a few things listed. Don't want to sound all goody goody and all that. My bad is using chemicals on my lawn. I live in "perfect yard" land and my attempt to not use them last year killed half my grass and some of my neighbor's respect.
In conclusion, we must not allow the debate regarding the flotilla deaths to be high jacked by those who strive to paint those of us against bullying and thuggery into anti-semites.
Someone has to be held accountable for the DEATHS of NINE ACTIVISTS.
Nine Dead Activists.
