I woke up and saw Ari spewing his nonsense on Morning Joe and I thought it was just Joe Scarborough helping an old Republican friend a seat at his "table" to help beat up the Obama Administration. It's not the first time Joe has used his three hour segment to do this. It happens quite regularly that is one of the reasons I have taken to going to bed later at night. I can't sleep without my meds which knock me out, I have not been able to fall sleep for years without them.
I suffer from many medical issues that make sleeping difficult, PTSD, 3 herniated disks, I have frequent "charlie horses" that bring me up screaming etc. Medication is the only way I can get more than 2 hours at a time, but I found that waking up every day and starting my day with Joe and Mika left me angry all day. So I stopped getting up for Willie's show at 5:30 and the "zoo crew" from 6-9.
But today I woke early and there was Ari using his minutes to bash President Obama for the BP mess etc. I went outside with my first cup of coffee and dipped the trash out of the pool.
But then on the 10 am hour here came Ari again saying that President Obama made promises he couldn't keep and how he is just like all other politicians. He made sure he did not point out that it was his boss and his administration that led to the downfall of Wall Street and the near depression this country found itself on Jan 20, 2009 when President Obama was sworn in.
He made comments to the effect that President Obama does now show enough hands on leadership on the Gulf disaster and that he is allowing BP to control it. Bull shit, time out it was the Bush Administration of which Ari was part of that gave the MMS the nice cosy relationship they had with the big oil companies where the oil companies filled in the govt reports in pencil and the MMS employees then used ink to make them official. Kind of like the SEC and Bernie Madoff where the investigators and the regulators never did their jobs because as we all know now, these government jobs were the stepping stones to the corner office positions with the financial and oil companies they were supposed to be regulating.
The purpose of the government job was not to protect us the American citizen it was to ensure the employees was hired by the private sector in a do nothing job that compensated them over generously to ignore the rules while they did the "oversight role".
But my pet peeve is why is MSNBC giving Ari Fleischer many segments to rewrite the Bush Administration history and to make sure no one points out the oil summit held in Cheney's office that they went to the Supreme Court to get Presidential Privilege to protect the identities of the oil company executives who were there that day.
We all know about the millions of dollars that Halliburton gave to Cheney as a "going away present" when he left to become Vice President. Oil companies had special consideration given to them by the Bush Administration when Iraq fell and many of the companies signed private deals with the Kurds even before they had a real Iraqi government.
Now instead of US oil companies being in charge of the Iraqi oil fields they are havig to bid against Russian and Chinese companies, and they are not winning the bids. So Cheney and friends got the short end of what they thought was a "sure deal" on Iraqi oil.
These arguments about American oil and foreign oil are now absurd all oil enters the global market, we do not keep every barrel drilled, some of what we drill is not conducive to gasoline, it is better as heating oil or heavy lubricants, but bottom line is once the oil is out of the ground it become a commodity sold on the global market.
The only way to stop being dependent on oil as a fuel source is to change our fuel demands, and until electric vehicles become more cost efficient, we will use fossil fuels it's that plain and simple but the oil companies should not have any more clout than Wall Street the American citizen and what is best for them and their environment should be the number one priority for all politicians. Not who and how much campaign cash they are getting where.
One last point of contention that bothers me I just heard on CNN that retired Admiral Thad Allen has a "security detail" why? Who is paying them, how large is it? Who is in command of them? the Coast Guard, the FBI, Secret Service, or BP? I spent almost 20 years in the military and I saw a lot of flag officers they had an aide, and a driver nothing more, why in the United States does a military Flag Officer require a "security detail"? Are all military commanders now accompanied by security details, when they leave military posts and if so, why? Are the details military personnel or private contractors and who decides which of them need these details and how large the detail is? I am sorry this is absurd if a military commander needs a security detail inside the US then we have a lot more issues than a spewing oil gusher in the gulf.
I do not want MSNBC to become Fox light, I don't feel the need to have my "news" made "fair and balanced" CNN has screwed up the lead they had on 24/7 news during the first Gulf War, at least when Campbell Brown announced she was leaving she told the truth because her ratingw sucked the TV viewers showed her they didn not want to watch her so she decided to quit, not that she was leaving to "spend more time with her family" etc. Fox made a place for themsleves by becoming the propaganda arm of the Republican party and then helped create the TEA Party, so when you turn to Fox news you know what you are getting news and propaganda tilted to the right.
At night MSNBC has made the choice to be the democratic alternative and their ratings are good, but they are screwing up daytime news, with Morning Joe, and the "guests" like Ari Fleischer that want to rewrite the Bush Presidency and other guests to attack the Obama Administration. I don't mind having the mistakes brought to light that the administration makes but please can we stop the this is "Obama's Katrina" and all of the other comparisons to the mistakes of the Bush Presidency, I think history will eventually credit George W. Bush as being the worst President in American History, he wrecked the economy, started the Iraq wars on lies, and he tortured people and created Gitmo those stains are there forever.
I want MSNBC day time to be the same as MSNBC evening I want my news from a democratic viewpoint or a straight down the middle viewpoint, I don't need republicans or TEA partiers to give me their propaganda. That is one reason I quit waking up to watch Morning Joe I would be happier if they fired Joe and Mika and turned the three hours over to Willie and Mike Barnicle and they can keep bringing on the same guests and have the same conversations without Joe bullying people and Mika nodding her head in agreement.
I want a left version of Fox we have it at night now management at NBC needs to go all the way 24/7 and get rid of the "lockup shows" hire some idiot comedian and give him a 2-3 hour news with a laugh.
