Or maybe it's an oil-dripping, oxygen starved Pelican that's got your tongue.
This is a rant about how Dick Cheney is an asshole. Which clearly violates the rules of redundancy on this website, but I don't think I'm in the mood to follow the rules.
You know, atleast when I occasionally, by accident, hear the ear-garbage being spewn by Limbaugh/Beck/Hannity/Palin over this oil spill, I know that really, when it comes down to it, these people are entertainers who make a buck angering morons and right-wing vegetables.
But for the last year, the most vocally dishonest, cynically bitter critic of Obama has been Dick Cheney. Former Vice President. And I suppose the question I'm asking is, where the hell is he now?
Oh, that's right. It was Haliburton that was responsible for cementing the drill into place below the water.
So where are you, Dick? Where's your vocal criticism of all things Obama? Where is your grandstanding nonsense about the weak-knee'd administration botching it all up? Being too apologetic?
Oh, that's right. It was Dick Cheney that had secret meetings with oil industry executives in order to deregulate and de-legitimize oversight of this industry to the point where corruption was so institutionalized that you couldn't even call it corruption. Just business as usual. No big deal.
So the media gets to go on bashing Obama for not turning this event into a Hollywood Film for cable news shows. And Dick Cheney gets to take pot-shots from the brush at Obama's credibility when it suits him, and the media eats it up. But when it's time to put Cheney's ass on the line, we are forced to listen to Joe Scarborough and even Howard Fineman whine about why the hell Obama isn't shaking his fists to the sky and yelling "KHAAAN!!". Where were all these super-interested journalists when oil companies were being thrown the keys to the outter continental shelf? Where was all their heart-felt concern for the environment? Where was Chris Matthews, who rants on and on about how awful this is, when corruption and kickbak in oil exploration was being institutionalized?
These journalists didn't give a damn about terrorism until the towers fell.
They didn't give a damn about corporate greed until the housing crisis and recession.
And they sure as hell didn't give a damn about our environment until the Gulf was turned into a Jiffy Lube.
Journalistic accoutability my ass. So Dick, why don't you come out and tell us just what you think about all this? Instead of your daughter waxing poetic about Turkey not being a NATO ally, send that machine of yours out and let's hear why thousands of barrels of oil are spewing into the Gulf of Mexico off of a blown Haliburton rig.
We're dying to hear from you.
