Just barely a diary, but I think this is topical. Joe Barton's opponent in Texas District 6 is David Cozad, and I just got off the phone with him.
What little I know about him is below the fold ...
We've been doing some work in Texas so we've got contacts there. About 45 minutes ago my Blackberry vibrated - "David Cozad xxx-yyy-zzzz dem against Joe Barton" was all it said.
And that was all it took to get me moving - I hit send and moments later I had David on the phone. We talked for just a little bit as he was getting into the shower and then headed off to a meeting, but I gave him my contact information (Stranded Wind), Spedwybabs' information, and we're going to talk further this evening about what his campaign might need.
Did you see Connie Saltonstall take off and go? That was us. Did you see John Bottorff's primary challenge of Baron Hill? Those were the same thing - I saw a tweet on the subject, I picked up the phone, and shortly afterward the Blog Workers Industrial Union parachutes in with campaign communications, scheduling, technology, and netroots outreach advice.
So that is about the extent of my knowledge - I heard about a candidate, I talked to him, he is organized enough to have a web site but it needs polishing, he has a treasurer, the treasurer made sure he was on ActBlue, and I take those to be very good signs.
I'm not gonna ask you guys to turn your pockets out for an unknown, but if you want to declare your intent to pound Joe Barton the donation page is below - I'm gonna suggest giving a $1.10 to show you're willing to donate toward his campaign for 2010, and don't forget to tip those hard working folks at ActBlue. We'll be back tomorrow with more information on Mr. Cozad and then we can make an informed decision about applying ourselves to his race.
