I received great feedback from my diary posting yesterday about the good laugh I received from State Senator Bill Brady, the part-time state senator, who wants to now become our Governor. Many of you wrote me and told me you will be supporting Patrick Quinn. Many of you told me that at a time when we need a full-time governor, paying attention to the problems of the state on a full-time basis, we need Patrick Quinn. He is doing just that. He is having a difficult time of it because the state legislature is reluctant to make the tough decisions that are needed and the state legislature is essentially laying the problems at Governor Quinn's door. And Governor Quinn will meet that challenge.
The only thing Quinn is restricted from doing is raise the state income tax. He can cut the budget and streamline government. And trust me, if Patrick Quinn could raise the state income tax and take the political heat that such a decision would bring, he would. Governor Patrick Quinn is a true Profile in Courage. Profiles in Courage: Decisive Moments in the Lives of Celebrated Americans, was a Pulitzer Prize winning book written by John F. Kennedy that detailed the lives of politicians that risked their political careers by making the right decision. If JFK were alive today, he would write about Patrick Quinn. In politics, we need more men and women of courage. Real political courage.
Governor Patrick Quinn, a man of courage.
That is because Governor Patrick Quinn is a courageous politician that is not afraid of making the tough decision and the right decision.
Bill Brady is not.
As I wrote yesterday, I never dreamed I would wasted my time posting about State Senator Bill Brady.
And I hope we laid to rest this thing that Brady could defeat President Obama for Governor of Illinois. How can a part-time legislator defeat a popular sitting President. This calls in Brady's judgment into question too.
I will flatly tell you that if Obama were running for Governor today against Bill Brady, Obama would get at least 80% of the vote. Brady could not defeat Obama on Obama's worst day and if Brady was at his best.
I am supporting Patrick Quinn for Governor of Illinois. I am supporting Alexi Giannoulias for United States Senate. We need a strong, top of the ticket so that in November we will sweep to victory statewide and countywide. And the ramifications that will have on the national level. It is important we keep Illinois as a Blue State.
Here are the rest of the statewide ticket. Sheila Simon, daughter of the revered Senator Paul Simon, is running for Lieutenant Governor. Lisa Madigan for Illinois Attorney General, Robin Kelly for Illinois State Treasurer, David Miller for Comptroller and Jesse White for Secretary of State. This is a strong ticket that needs your support.
