A story from Al Jazeera about the Gaza blockade. The most interesting part of the video in my opinion is seeing the Hamas spokesperson in front of a grove. I always pictured Gaza as being sand dunes.
The Nassar family farm is sandwiched between two settlement blocs In the West Bank between Bethlehem & Hebron. To oppose pressure from Israel to sell the farm, they have started a youth center called Tent of Nations, where they welcome Israeli & foreigners, and talk about peace & co-existence. Plus, don't take our farm. The have spent lots of shekels (Israeli currency) on their legal case, which is before the Supreme Court.
Activists (Palestinian, Israeli & Internationals) try to stop the construction of the Wall near Beit Jala. No stone throwing. IDF only uses teargas once. Lots of pushing activists by IDF. The Wall, when completed, will cut off Beit Jala from olive groves, a recreational forest, & the Cremisan monastery & winery.
Dahmash is a Palestinian village in Israel near Tel Aviv. Except the Israel government doesn't recognize it. So, no sewer lines, no garbage pick-up, no mail delivery, no schools. The father from one of the houses asks, This is a democracy? Thirteen homes have received demolition notices. They held a demonstration against house demolitions last Sunday with Israeli activists & residents from Sheikh Jarrah in East Jerusalem.
Finally, here is a link to Uri Avnery's most recent column. He is an activist with Gush Shalom.
