This Saturday I stood toe-to-toe with Senator Burr as we debated the issues before a televised audience.
The 16-year veteran of Washington tried to duck questions and paint himself as outsider – but I held him accountable, challenging him on blocking unemployment benefits and taking millions of dollars from Big Oil.
The differences couldn’t be starker – and the choice couldn’t be clearer.
Help us raise $75,000 $100,000 online before the critical July 1 deadline!
UPDATE [11:03 A.M. EST]: This is Mike from Elaine's campaign. Here is the video:
Saturday’s debate was a resounding victory for us, but don’t just listen to me:
Throughout the debate, Marshall looked the most fired up… She really had to convince the Democratic base she has a shot at unseating Burr and it would seem to me she might have given supporters something to smile about.
-- Mark Binker, Greensboro News-Record
[Elaine] did very well, as she should’ve – she’s been through two elections already this year, so she’s had to get her game in gear, and that helped her yesterday. On key message points, she was sharp, focused, and fired up.
-- Laura Leslie, WUNC Public Radio
Even the Independent Weekly’s Bob Geary – an early critic of mine – admitted that Burr looked “hapless” in the debate and that our campaign scored a debate victory “convincingly.” I have to admit, it’s nice to win over the critics in this campaign!
This was a great win for our campaign.
But a big debate win doesn’t change the fact that Burr has a 6-year, $10 million head start and we need to raise $75,000 $100,000 before the July 1 fundraising deadline.
Chip in $5 or more and help us meet this crucial goal.
It’s been a big week for us: we won the nomination, tied Burr in the polls, picked up an endorsement from Emily’s List and won a big victory in Saturday’s debate. The road is a long one – but I like the path we’re on.
Thanks for being a part of this campaign,
Elaine.
