Proof. Really, you have to listen to this before you call your Senators and Representatives.
Mary Matalin seems to speak the hearts of the GOP and Ben Nelson:
"If you don't work, you don't eat!" Thanks, Mary.

Does she speak what most GOP and Blue Dogs feel towards the long-term unemployed?
I think YES. And they hope their base is also as heartless. What they fail to realize is that there base is also suffering now. New Game, or so we can hope.
That's it in a nutshell. Starve and live under a bridge, it's your fault.
In 2007, before the recession, over 12%-20% of Americans lived in poverty, depending which state you lived in. The Southern States had the highest percentages (over 20%), no surprise, IF their leaders feel the way Mary does, right?
What is the percent of poverty now that we have added:
2,181,500 long-term unemployed Americans have now lost their unemployment benefits.
53,500 more will join them each day,
which amounts to more than
350,000 people each week, who will be losing what could be their only source of income for housing, utilities, food and health-care for themselves and their kids.
In short, millions are facing Survival Insecurity!

For details, maps, and charts to prove how the GOP has destroyed our economy and our personal income security, you can find them laced throughout these diaries:

And the direction we might consider taking, if we can filter out all the negative talk about Sweden which is a democratic government. The people voted for the system they have because they followed their hearts. And it has worked out well for them. We thought we had a Social Democratic governement, although not articulated that way. We thought we had enacted laws for better social justice. Now look where we are:

Call, fax, email, and then organize and march.
All the calling, faxing, and emailing didn't give us the health care, not insurance, reform we had Dared to Hope for.
Yes We Can
has sadly become
Yes, They Can Dilute What We Want
Well, now the issue is survival for millions of children.
If this doesn't bring us to the streets, I guess nothing will.
Without our participation, this generation of children will become either the lost, imprisoned, least educated, and/or dead generation of children since the Great Depression.
So Mary, if the children don't work are they not to eat either?
Deficit Hawks speak with forked tongues.
I dare Congress to cut their wages in half, or not take them if they already have millions of dollars.
Where's the stomach for Congress to cut their own budgets? Right!
Why can't the FED extend WIC to the unemployed? Much of the food provided is subsidized.
