In the small hours of the morning, after more than 14 hours of debate, Argentina's legislature has voted marriage equality into law.
Here's what it looked like in the Plaza del Congreso in Buenos Aires when the results of the vote were announced to a waiting crowd:
Among my first thoughts was of the spectacular scene at the end of the first act of Evita! :
A new Argentina!
The chains of the masses untied!
A new Argentina!
The voice of the people cannot be denied!
Congratulations to Argentina, yet another nation to school the Land of the Free in the meaning of "liberty and justice for all."
