Disregard Geithner. Disregard Huffpo.
Do you believe Elizabeth Warren to be the right person at the CFPB? Do you want the administration to appoint her?
I do.
Disclaimer: I work for you.
Yeah, I know. It feels bad to be manipulated or even to suspect you've been manipulated. We Democrats have a natural instinct to question motives and see deeper and resist anything that's less than honest. To not do so makes us feel "dirty".
But the HuffPo piece is irrelevant.
Really.
The fact of the matter is, Democrats and progressives have been stirred from slumber. The right thing for the administration to do is obvious to all. God's honest truth is it shouldn't have taken the HuffPo piece for us to rally in support of Elizabeth Warren as head of the CFPA. We should have been calling for it as soon as Senate vote was complete.
Immediately.
So, if you're a critic, why not get ahead of the administration and push for this? Help the administration make the right choice. It will give you one less thing to be unhappy about. And happier is good.
If you're a supporter (for lack of a better word), this doesn't make the administration "look bad". Nay, it COULD BE one of their finer hours. With your help, that is. Don't you want that? Don't you want another win? I do. And you do too, I think.
Maybe you don't know if you should support Elizabeth Warren? If you don't know much about her I implore you to visit this already excellent diary posted about her today. And if you see stuff in the comments that just happen to mention Geithner or Nelson or HuffPo... just mentally delete that part. You're not reading it for that. You're doing it for you.
And.. hey. Don't look now but I think someone's smiling at you...
If that didn't do it for you. How about doing it for this cutie, okay?
So are you ready?
Let's do it! Here's what I did today. And I included pics so you know it's not bullshit. I am not HuffPo. I am a Kossack.
First, I printed off THIS LETTER from Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney. There are actually two letters here. The first is to her colleagues to join her in a petition to appoint Warren. The second is to President Obama with the signature space blank.
I took the first letter to her colleagues and printed several copies. I then signed them myself and then mailed them to the congresspeople and offices below. Yep. Old-fashioned snail mail. If you do it this weekend it should get there in time. Finally, I sent a quick short email to each as well and and a sincere THANKS to Carolyn Maloney.
