In a PPP poll out this morning, Sink has jumped way out in front in the race for governor of Florida. For such a key governor's, this is great news. Here are the numbers (March):
Sink 37 (31)
McCollum 23 (44)
Chiles 17
Sink 36
Scott 30
Chiles 16

The R's are killing each other, at least for now, driving up each Republican candidate's negatives. But as the PPP analysis points out, for the fall election, there is a lot more room for the Republican nominee to gain as most undecideds are Republicans.
Florida is a key state in the upcoming redistricting battles. In 2002, we were taken to the cleaners there. I know there is an initiative fight there this year to take redistricting away from the legislature (and governor), but do not know much about its status. (Anyone?) But if it does not pass, with the legislature being solid red, we need the governor's race a lot.
For all of the national talk about the chance of Democrats losing lots of governor's seats this tear, I keep looking to the other side (and hoping) as we have real chances for pick ups in the big states of California, Georgia, Florida, and Texas, as well as many others.
